Reminder: The Run-Off round only runs for 24 hours.

I like Oracle of Ages, but I'm going to have to give this to the original Zelda.  Ages - while a great game - has a bit of collect-a-thon element to it that I'm not a fan of.  And the original inspired Legend of Neil - which rocks. :)

The original Zelda game is not that good anymore. It has aged better than Metoid, but still is pretty bad. I haven't played OOA though, so I again can't really vote.

I disagree.  I played the original game last year for the first time since before the SNES came out and found it to be perfectly playable.  I only had to resort to GameFAQs once to find a dungeon that I simply couldn't locate.

It's strange how much I can remember about a game I hadn't played in nearly 20 years--I instinctively knew to burn certain bushes or blow up walls.  I never knew what would be behind them, just that they held something.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Different people have different tastes, I never really like the original game. I played it a little as a kid and a little when I got the Zelda compilation discs, but I couldn't get into it. There are many NES games I would rank above it, but I can see why others would like it.

I voted for the original, as I had done. It's one of the few NES games I can still stand to play. Though I'm not so sure how well the game has aged. If I didn't already know all of its secrets and dungeon layouts, I probably wouldn't have any interest in it.

I know I've been pretty vocal about my hatred of Link to the Past, but I'm a big fan of the original. It's aged better than most NES games; not as well as the Mario games, certainly, but it's definitely still playable and enjoyable.

I don't really agree with this.
Z1 isn't a flawless game by any means - but the flaws that it does have are mostly due to the restrictions of the system it was released on.  Ages, on the other hand, has several flaws that aren't limited to the system it was released on.

Z1 is a world full of exploration and challenges - things like the swordless quests, minimalist quest, the entire second quest.  All kinds of things you can do and all different kinds of ways to play the game.  By comparison, Ages is pretty linear.  You can't do B until you've done A.

The ring collect-a-thon, along with some of the pieces of heart (Pieces of Heart should never be hidden within a random event... this means you could try forever and never obtain them) really hurt the game.  Granted, not as bad as, say, the Wind Waker photo quest or such, but still - if I want to play a collect-a-thon, I'll dig out DK64.  It did it better. ;)

I agree with the results - that Z1 is a better game than Ages.  I don't think that's as much of a personal opinion though - I mean, ultimately, what makes a game "good" will vary from person to person - but it seems to me that Z1 has more universal appeal than Ages because it does more things "right" and less things "wrong".

That's actually what I think, too. My comment was more of a direct response to Broodwars comment, but I didn't make that clear.

Yeah, we're really scraping the bottom of the barrel so hard we're drilling through the floor underneath it, so I guess it's time for Master Quest this time from me as well.
