Marvel vs. Capcom 3
« on: April 20, 2010, 12:23:10 PM »
Surprised to see no mention of it here, but Capcom announced the third entry in the Marvel vs. Capcom franchise. Here is the Youtube video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzvE7e94Z_A

As expected, no Wii version because Capcom hates us:

Quote
The title, which will likely feature more than 30 characters to   choose from and feature 3-on-3 tag team fighting, hits the Playstation 3   and Xbox 360 in spring 2011. There currently are no plans for an   arcade, computer or Wii version of the title, Capcom tells Kotaku.
http://kotaku.com/5518024/marvel-vs-capcom-3-will-be-a-living-comic-with-a-deep-story

The only sour note (aka, trying to lessen the pain of being ignored) is that it will feature a "deep story", which for me is kind of a turn off for fighting games... I tend to like minimal story with more of a focus on other aspects.

Still, I really want this game, but really don't have the budget to go multiplatform (still haven't even saved up the money for Tatsunoko vs. Capcom)... but Marvel vs. Capcom 2 was the game which made me break down to buy a Dreamcast so I'm quite sad (although not surprised) to see Capcom overlook the Wii.

We got Tatsunoko vs. Capcom. That's good enough for me.
This would be my PSN Trophy Card, but I guess I can't post HTML in my Signature. I'm the pixel spaceship, and I have nine Gold trophies.

In theory, I really want this game because I love the idea of taking a team of MegaMan, Spider-man, and someone like Iron Man into battle against various teams in the Marvel/Capcom universe.  Then I remember that these Capcom fighting games are designed for only the hardest of the hardcore with an emphasis on memorizing ridiculously elaborate button combinations, and suddenly I'm disinterested (and subsequently a little sad) again.   :-\    Maybe if it turns out more user-friendly like BlazBlue did (which has really simple controls by fighting game standards) I'll check it out.

Basically this. Thankfully I have a PS3 already so the pain isn't that bad.

On the plus side, the producer of TvC expressed interest in doing a Nintendo vs. Capcom...

I just watched the trailer.  They are going for the Street Fighter 4 art style, which is good, in fact very good....BUT it is still not as good as Street Fighter 3, and nice Sprite based fighters.

And hey don't worry about Marvel vs. Capcom being about hardcore gamers...it is pure fast based button masher...a sweet crazy insane game.

GHOST RIDER PLEASE

Seriously, we got f***ing BLACKHEART, but no Ghost Rider? Nobody even knows who Blackheart is, or where he comes from, or why he's significant in any way. He's most memorable as a Ghost Rider villain and the son of Mephisto, who was also noticeably lacking in the roster.

Thinking of making a PS3 cabinet and this game will be one of those that add.  Might be my "summer" project this year, I already have a system, the TV set (40HDTV), and two 6 buttons arcade sticks.

Super Street Fighter 4
MK vr DC
Soul Calibur 4
Virtual Fighter 5 Online
and now this :)

It's going make a great setup.

That cabinet's dearly in the need of some BlazBlue, either Calamity Trigger or the new one coming out soon.

Thinking of making a PS3 cabinet

that would be awesome my friend..

I'm hoping for a Wii announcement at E3. Seriously, I need to play to this game on my Wii!

Though Tatsunoko vs. Capcom did do online better than I thought it would, sadly the Wii would not be able to handle this game. It's using the SF4 engine with some of the same assets in  Tatsunoko vs. Capcom but clocked up to match that MvC2 speed.

And hey don't worry about Marvel vs. Capcom being about hardcore gamers...it is pure fast based button masher...a sweet crazy insane game.

Mmmm... I think that depends on who you talk to.. if it's like MvC2 each character has a light attack, light attack, heavy attack combo and that,s button mashing but if you like winning you need to turn that into;

light attack, light attack, pop-up,(in air) light attack, heavy attack, special move(must juggle) double jump, light attack, SUPER MOVE..(actual Morrigan combo)

and that's the mid level stuff... Sorry if I perpetuated your sadness broodwars

I'm right there with you... although sadly I think there is zero chance of Capcom porting it to the Wii.

Honestly, I think there is a better chance of seeing it ported to Wii2 (or whatever it turns out to be) than the Wii... sadly. :-(

Sadly I see this game coming to the 3DS before any other Nintendo system...actually a 3DS version would be ok with me.  Yes it would be downgraded, but it would also be portable.

I went and saw Ghost Rider on opening night, and dragged all my friends with me, even though I knew from the previews it was going to be an abysmal movie. Am I a bad person?

But seriously, I love Ghost Rider. Johnny Blaze is an interesting character (not a huge fan of Dan Ketch), and the Ghost Rider is a neat concept for a superhero, that allows a lot of flexibility in terms of storyline and enemies.

Also he's badass.

I'm seriously puzzled that everyone wants this game on Wii. We just got Tatsunoko vs. Capcom. It's a Wii exclusive! It's not coming to the other systems! That's GOOD, isn't it?

You can't be a proper Nintendo fan(boy) if you don't have a massive persecution complex.  I don't know why anyone would expect it to come to Wii when Street Fighter 4 didn't.

Yeah, and PS3 and Xbox got Street Fighter and now MvC.

Tatsunoko vs Capcom is an awesome game, don't get me wrong, but I'd trade it for those other two games in a heat beat (specially MvC3).

I preferred fighting games like Power Stone and MvC over Capcom's more traditional fighters. Also, Roll is awesome in TvC, just saying.

So Capcom, when are you going to get started on a Nintendo vs. Capcom?

Wii not able to handle the game? Come on now.

Of course Wii could handle it if Capcom wanted to, with some downgrades to visuals. That's not the problem, but the fact that Capcom is pretty unlikely to port it to the system is (as mentioned further down, we never got Street Fighter 4 after all).

Because it's Marvel vs. Capcom... Marvel is a huge property, and has gained traction with the success of the movies lately, so of course there will be a bigger interest for this title. Plus the 3 vs 3 format appeals to some more than 2 vs 2 (as Tatsunoko had).

Tatsunoko vs Capcom is an awesome game, don't get me wrong, but I'd trade it for those other two games in a heat beat (specially MvC3).

I will take Tatsunoko vs. Capcom over Street Fighter 4, as I like that style more, but I agree that I would take Marvel vs. Capcom over... well any of those without a second thought.

The problem is that Tatsunoko vs. Capcom isn't really even as entertaining as Marvel vs. Capcom 2... an almost ten year old game.

I believe as westerners most people here care more about Marvell characters than Tatsunoko ones (especially without the Samurai Pizza Cats).

I never bought Tatsunoko vs. Capcom and probably never will, I have no plans of buying Marvel vs. Capcom 3 regardless of what systems it comes to, but if they were to make Nintendo vs. Capcom I would definitely buy it.
