The arcade card game will be seeing a home console release in Japan soon.

Square Enix announced that their card-based arcade game, Dragon Quest Monsters Battle Road Victory, will be coming to the Wii in Japan.

In the game, players use physical cards to summon Dragon Quest monsters into battle. The Wii version will retain the gameplay seen in the original arcade game, and will include four-player battles on one console as well as online play through the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. The Wii version will also have an exclusive tournament mode where players can collect cards while facing off against other players.

The title will also make use of the DSi to link the console and arcade versions. Players will be able to download a special app called "Dragon Quest Monsters Battle Road Victory Color Code Scanner" and scan arcade cards for use on the Wii version.

At the moment, only a teaser site is available.

Oh Goodie, a card battle game!  And yet another Square-Enix spin-off at that!  Because Lord knows we haven't had enough of those already!  ::)

Yeah and Wii is getting Dragon Quest 10, so what's your point?

That I wish Square-Enix would actually release more software likely worth a damn on Wii, rather than treating it as the place they dump their shoddy spin-offs.  Sure, for those that enjoy re-skinned 20-year old RPGs, there's DQ 10 on the horizon.  C'mon, though, would it really kill them to release a new RPG from one of their lesser series on Wii, or did Crystal Bearers just sell that badly?

It just reinforces the stereotype that the PS3/360 are where developers put their real titles, while the titles they have no faith; budget; or interest in go to the Wii.  Yes, I own both PS3 and Wii, but I would actually like to play something on my Wii once in a while and Square-Enix tends to produce RPGs I like.

You realize the Dragon Quest series is one of Square's, if not their most important franchise, in the Japan right? It isn't chopped liver like you are tyring to make it out to be.

What games has Square-Enix made for PS3/360 that were "big titles" besides FF13? Star Ocean? Lol

Have you seen the game that's being ported though?

watch the trailer for the sequel to the arcade game. I doubt this game makes it out of Japan (since those arcade games don't exist here), but if the battles in DQX look anywhere near as cool as the battles in this game, DQX will be a Day 1 purchase.

Hey now...granted, I'm only about 8 or so hours into Star Ocean 4 (I got a little sidetracked by Resonance of Fate, Final Fantasy XIII, God of War III, and Sakura Wars), but it's a pretty decent game despite its love for RPG cliches and goofy character names.  ;)

I also have a Wii & PS3.  The only game I'm currently playing on my Wii...Your Shape (the Ubioft game with the camera).  It's giving me a workout but I hardly call it a "game".  Though I will be getting SMG2 soon so I'll have something at least.

Oooh, you reminded me about Sakura Wars.  I really need to pick that one up or at least rent it.

Well, I'm still wondering who's making DQX?  Level 5 (developer of DQIX and DQVIII) hasn't stated anything other than their current projects (WKC2 for the PS3 and a few DS titles), hopefully we find out something at E3 even though it still looks like a 2011 game.  Hell, we don't even know if they are going for MP or SP for the game. :(

Which reminds me, wtf is taking so long to translate a DS game?  DQIX was released nearly a year ago it seems and still hasn't hit the states.

Lack of interest would be my guess. Dragon Warrior/Quest has never been popular here.

They're probably trying to figure out how to make the game work in America.  There's more to translating then just changing the language of the text.

A huge part of DQIX is the multiplayer aspect, which frankly won't work in America.  The game will need to have an online aspect if there's any hope of it playing the same way as the Japanese version.  If they can't/won't get the game online they're going to have to dramatically change the way the game is played if they want to provide a compelling reason to buy it.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!
