WarioWare DIY addiction. I need help.
« on: April 06, 2010, 02:02:12 PM »
Why do I insist on spending about 1.5hrs to make a 5 sec game about making toast?  And then going back to edit it because the music did not convey the right mood of the game or to tweek the "art" to make it better.

This game is giving me an OCD complex.

I need help...  Anyone else experiencing this?

I don't know if your post makes me want to rush out and buy the game or never touch it ever.

And that's why I haven't gotten it yet; I don't know if I'd get into it or not.

Well I can only describe it this way.

Making games is more of a puzzle game than any thing else.  Especally if your trying to do complex things with the inherint limitations of the programming options.  But when you get your game to do what you want it to do, you get some satisfaction out of it.

If you like to tinker with things, this is the game for you.  Even if your final product is terrible you'll have had fun making it.

When all is said and done, I will probably put more time into this game than any other game I've played recently.  So from a value aspect, good bang for your buck (for whatever thats worth).

If Pokemon didn't come out right before this, I'd probably buy this without hesitation. However, my handheld time is dominated by the little collectable bastards...and the finishing touches of the DSiWare feature.

I never got big into "Create-A-" modes (other than Create-A-Wrestler, but eve that is getting annoying with all of the different options), I did like the Create-A-Stage in Super Smash Bros. Brawl though. I would probably stick mostly to the existing microgames and the ones others create. Luckily there are also celebrity games (the first two came out this week: Suck Goo! from one of the creators of World of Goo, and Ikachan! from the creator of Cave Story).

This is the problem I'm experiencing.

Although, if I did get it, I'd probably have the same problem as you, apdude. I suggest start making a new game and for the old one.

I'm very tempted to get this game. I've been sorely disappointed in 'creat-a-BLANK' games but all of the talk about the fun had in making games has me very tempted to try it. Plus the last Wario Ware I've owned was the Mega Micro Games on Gamecube.

Here, use this! If you can channel your addiction into that you'll be on your way to proper game making productivity.
