Netflix Wii Discs Begin To Ship
« on: March 25, 2010, 12:21:45 PM »
A select group of Netflix users are slated to receive their Wii Netflix instant streaming discs very soon.
 http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/newsArt.cfm?artid=22804

A lucky few Netflix users are slated to receive Wii Netflix instant streaming discs in the next few days. While not all users who requested the disc are receiving it, it appears that it will only be a matter of time until they do.

Netflix Instant on Wii was announced earlier this year, and was slated for a spring launch. With spring just beginning, it looks like Nintendo and Netflix will meet that window.

I wonder if hardcore Wii collectors will sign up for a trial to Netflix just to get the disc (the same sort of people who collect demo discs).

If there are any Wii collectors, then yes, this type of thing would be something that they would want to have. They would probably prefer to get one straight from Netflix because then it would be in new condition with all original packaging.

It's basically $10 for one month, you get to receive atleast 4 movies in the mail (assuming you watch and return 1 a week) and you can stream available content(entire season of Spartacus: Blood and Sand so far ;) ) till you've seen all that you care to watch.

If you really want the disc, it's worth the $10 1 month subscription. You'll probably end up keeping it for much longer than that though.

I generally manage two batches a week. If you mail them back out the same day you receive them, it's a helluva good value. I used to do three-at-a-time like that, but recently downgraded to the one-at-a-time plan.

You get a 2 week free trial, so you can at least give it a try and see if you like it. When I had Netflix, I also had the 3 at a month plan. My account was shut down by Netlix (someone, I think the brother of my sister's boyfriend, kept stealing the discs), with him in jail now I might try and get a new subscription (especially since I can stream it on my PS3).

I still have 3 at a time.

[start]I send out all 3 on a Saturday to receive 3 new movies movies on Tuesday (New Release Day). Out of the 3 on I receive Tuesday, I watch one to return on Wednesday so that I get one more movie on Friday, and watch the 2nd and 3rd Tuesday movies on Wednesday and Thursday, then watch the just received Friday movie that night and then [return to start]

That equals 4 movies a week on a 3 at a time plan plus all the instant watch movies I get in inbetween that. very well worth the $15-$18 a month (I don't even know how much I pay anymore) if you ask me.

My disc came in today and it took a few seconds to get it all set up. The streaming is super smooth and the video quality is fair for what it is. I like that there are shortcuts via the remote.

That's well done, but that still sounds like a pain in the ass. I like to be spontaneous with my movie watching. I never know when or what I'm in the mood to watch.

That's what Instant Watch is for. I have about 60 or so random movies on call if I feel the need to watch something, and if I'm not feeling that list, then I can always sift through the the massive list of titles they have including the new releases.

I just have a system in place to maximize the value I get out of the service.

When I first started Netflix, I had a 30 day free trial. I'm pretty sure I watched 30 different movies in those 30 days and have been hooked ever since.

Netflix is great for watching DVDs that are no longer in print and hard to find (or expensive, I used Netflix to watch all the ThunderCats DVDs). The more you rate and the more you rent, the better their recommendations get too.

What a disappointing christening title...I hated Animatrix. It only solidified my distaste for the main trilogy. And it seemed to start off decently enough too.

It's alright, not amazing. I wanted to find a better christening title but didn't have much time before i left. If only Captain N was still on NIW. :(

It had some good stories. I think the one about the detective was my favorite. I really disliked the stories about the start of the war and the the whole 'robots rights' thing. It just made little sense to me and failed to suspend my disbelief.

You should redeem yourself by rechristening it with an episode of Spatacus.
Now you can have Mature content on your Wii.
