« on: March 25, 2010, 11:25:23 AM »
Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions will be developed by Beenox Studios, include two new villains, and take place in a universe that hasn't been in a Spider-Man video game before.
 http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/newsArt.cfm?artid=22801

At WonderCon in San Francisco next week, Activision will reveal information about Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions at a panel, according to the convention's website.

The game, which hasn't been officially confirmed for Wii or DS, will be developed by Beenox Studios, who worked on Guitar Hero: Smash Hits and the Wii version of Quantum of Solace. The universe in the game will be new to the world of video games, and there will be two new villains that will be unveiled at the panel.

Marvel comic book writer Dan Slott will be penning the story, and Christopher Daniel Barnes, the voice of Spider-Man in the mid-1990s cartoon show, will voice the main character. The two will be appearing at the panel along with Beenox's Creative Director Thomas Wilson, and Activision Senior Producer Meghan Morgan.

See below for the full panel details.

"3:30-4:30 Activision Unveils the New Marvel Game: Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions— Be the first to hear about Activision’s all-new Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions video game from the perspective of acclaimed Marvel writer Dan Slott (The Mighty Avengers, Amazing Spider-Man, and She-Hulk comic book series), actor Christopher Daniel Barnes (voice of Spider-Man TV series, 1994-1998; Greg Brady in The Brady Bunch Movie, 1995; voice of Eric in The Little Mermaid, 1989), developer Beenox’s Creative Director Thomas Wilson, and Activision Senior Producer Meghan Morgan. See exclusive screenshots and videos of the new game and prepare to be surprised with the unique, unexpected worlds Spider-Man will adventure through in Activision’s latest foray. Get a side-by-side look at the collaboration of old versus new, dive deep into an exciting new universe never before seen in Spider-Man video games, and discover two new villains in the upcoming game exclusively at the panel! Plus, panel attendees will get a chance to receive a limited edition poster signed by comic book legend, Stan Lee."

The Fox Spider-Man cartoon is the best media version of him and that was the best version of the character, so I am glad they are using his voice in the game.

Something about them using the voice of the guy from the animated series reminds me of what they did with Batman Arkem Asylum, but I still don't think it'll be as good.

It seems with all these new Spider-man games the developers feel like they have to add something new that strays from what make the character who he is.  Don't add advanced hand-to-hand Combat in a Spider-man game, he fights with his webs god damn-it!!!  The same thing happened with the Tony Hawk games, they kept making the tricks more and more complicated that it was no longer accessible to those who weren't die hard skate fans like the originals were.

Have you guys seen this game yet?
It's confirmed for Wii and DS by the way and so far it looks pretty bad ass.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6TJ-pt4aTU

There are 4 dimensions and 2 have been revealed so far.
Amazing Spiderman Dimension(cell shaded) that we already know (vs Kraven)
and a Noir dimension* that looks like Spidermans "Arkham Asylum".

I'm just hoping that the cell shading that they are using is as good as what I've seen of Red Steel 2 (my copy shipped yesterday) when they reveal the Wii version.

There also appears to be some 1st Person Gameplay according to the trailer.

*based on the Noir line of Spiderman Comics

Different versions? That's interesting... wonder what the chances are of the other two being Spectacular and the previously mentioned 2099?

I assume ape and Spider-ham are a bit too goofy for this, but those are some other possible dimensions. I hope it's not Zombie, as I never cared for that line.

Well if each is from a different Marvel universe there's a number of candidates. Aside from 2099, I can think of 2 others that aren't even Peter Parker. Who knows, maybe they'll throw a curve ball & put Spider-Girl in there too.

Come to think of it....why hasn't there been a Spider-Ham video game? Something like that needs to be a Wii exclusive & filled with comical parodies other Spider-Man games & the movies.

GT has a new video. I didn't get it to play on this laptop (wouldn't stop loading and wouldn't let me push play) so I don't know if anything new is revealed or not.

I didn't feel like watching the whole thing but from what I saw, they didn't announce any new versions of Spider-Man. Only major thing for me was that the voice actor from the 90's cartoon will do the voice of Noir Spider-Man & the other 3 will also be done by former Spider-Man voice actors.

Nice, and Spider-man 2099 is looking good. Wonder if the Vulture will be the notable bad guy from that dimension.

Coincidentally Marvel has re-released the first 10 Spider-Man 2099 comics in a graphic novel collection. Might be worth checking out though I'm gonna hold off. I'm behind on enough comics as it is...

The hint for the last Spiderman looks like he's a monster or something. Could it be a symbiote Spiderman? Venom or Carnage Spiderman?

Spider-Ma with the Venom symbiont is basically just Spider-Man in a black suit. He actually looks different in the Carnage symbiont.

TJ Spike while you are mostly right there are a few differences between Spiderman and Black suit Spiderman. Black Suit was a lot stronger than normal Spiderman. Black Suit Spidey could produce its own webbing and would at times act on its own to protect its host.

By the sound that the creature at the end sounded like I am guessing that it will be a symbiote dimention. It sounded like Venom.

Going from the comics, is there such a thing as an existing dimension that would allow for a "symbiote one"?

So far all of the dimensions have been from comics (616 Streamline, Noir, 2099). The only dimension I can think of for this one is Zombie, but I hope its not that one and the mouth does look more like Carnage than Zombie Spider-man.

It could be something based on the short lived Spider-Carnage, but that wasn't its own dimension:

The eyes look like Venom or Carnage, as both have the same design. The odd thing is that the light in the background shows through the mouth... is there a hole going through there? If so, could point toward it being the zombie one although the eye design doesn't match.

I put more faith in it being a symbiote. Doing some research, there is a dimension where Spider-man has merged with Carnage and appeared in Exiles and is designated as Earth 15 in terms of dimension. They also came across a Demon Spider-man in a dimension as well. Problem is that those are super obscure. Casual comic fans know of Noir and 2099... but the others I mentioned are one issue things.

The only dimension popular enough that is left is zombie that could fit with the clue, but I really hope its not and the symbiote thing is true even if it would deviate from the others revealed.
