I know what "Game Zero" is!!!
« on: April 24, 2003, 10:05:47 PM »
if you guys remember that in past talks with nintendo
they disclosed the information that the sequel to Perfect Dark
would be a prequel...

Although Rare no longer belongs to Nintendo
the game is coming out

how? I've heard one of two things-
1. the team with the main man behind goldeneye and PD who started his new company will be responsible for the game
2. Nintendo is making the game themselves using code from Rare

anyway I'm so happy to know about this but at the same time saddened because their big game
is no longer shrouded in secrecy or going to be a giant surprise for us all

you are dead wrong.

1) GameZero is not a first person shooter

2) Rare owns the rights to Perfect Dark

I too have had thoughts running through my head that say Zoonami are making the next Perfect Dark. It's possible but i doubt it. But come to think of it, i dont think any screens of the "xbox" version have been shown and i remember rumours BEFORE rare left that said Nintendo were making the next perfect dark themselves. I believe you joeamis!!

PD is only heading to Xbox, cuz Rare is the rightful publisher of PD.
Nintendo didn't even publish PD on N64.

Rare revealed Joanna Dark has longer hair, and the game is cel-shaded thanks to a piece of character artwork that appeared after the official handover of Rare.

Get over it.

Zoonami may indeed make a new exclusive spy themed FPS for GameCube, but Joanna Dark is only going to see green. (Uh, Xbox)

And off-topic, but what's the deal with PD 0? She's what, 15 years old with giant breasts and an anime style look now? What the hell is Rare doing?

I don't know how many times it can be said, but:

ZOONAMI IS NOT WORKING ON AN FPS.  THE HEADS OF THE COMPANY THEMSELVES HAVE STATED THIS SO THERE IS NO SPECULATION.

They actually never said they werent working on a FPS, they just qoute the IGN Janitor on their website saying that 'Zoonami isnt developing another Goldeneye, or maybe not even another FPS' but Zoonami dont confirm it, just the no Goldeneye fact.

what ever we think Rare and Zoonami are doing or not doing, there will be a BIG blowout of Rareware info at E3.
M$ aren't allowing Rare to show anything, cause they want EVERYTHING to be a surprise.
And even though I believe Perfect Dark (wow, haven't typed that name in a long time) is going to Nint...sorry, Xbox, just ONE concept art of Joanna (haven't typed that name in a long time either) doesn't really convince me, so i think joeamis has a valid point.

Zoonami HAVEN'T confirmed that they are NOT working on a FPS title, only that their Game Zero game isn't an FPS. So an FPS title (perhaps in the mould of PD) can be in the pipeline in theory. And if what Mario 'remembers' is true, then a PD game on Gamecube 'might' be possible. So Mario, get some sources and quotes, cause you seem to be adept at doing these things - digging out the impossible.

All this though, is highly unlikely. I warn everyone to tread with caution. This is a one second fuse bomb of a thread.

Not to mention 'game Zero' was confirmed for LAN play....hmmmmmm....deathmatch?  I doubt it, but stranger things have happened this year.  If you would have told me that square would be making games for the GC, i'd a said you're crazy.  Sonic on GC?  Get out of here.  MGS on GC?  Yeah right.  The crazy announcements go on and on.  This is why I love this time of year...bring on E3!!!!!

Termin8tor, they might be working on another game you say? But how is that possible with a team of 8 people max (as far as I know, they used to be 6 a while back and im sure they havent become 40-50 in the meantime).

We have no concrete proof Perfect Dark still belongs to Rare (anybody prove me wrong), but out of the fact that Rare created and developed the series, I think it is safe to say PD belongs to Rare.  Nintendo and Rare were in a franchise battle before Rare left for Microsoft, and I do not think Microsoft would let arguably Rare's best series go to Nintendo.

Please don't forget that MS just recently acquired Rare.  Given the regular development time of a 3d video game plus the exceptionally long development time for RARE, plus the difficulty in changing management, etc, I find it practically impossible that Rare releases a game for MS before Xmas this year, and that game will be rushed/ported if it is released.

Dear Scribes,
As a loyal Nintendo/Rare user I think you should let me in a little info. I'm not writing to whine about your divorce to Nintendo, although the promise of a Perfect Dark sequel was one of the reasons I bought the GameCube over Xbox. The question I have is whether or not the Perfect Dark sequel will still be out for GameCube (I wasn't sure what company retained the rights to that particular francise). I am hoping to see the title for my console soon, as you pushed it back to the impossibly far-away year of 2004 and I think all the GameCube users waiting in vain deserve an answer so we can cash-in our consoles for an Xbox. So let me know so I can get on with my life, a life devoid of Joanna Dark.
The Smallville Hero

Come on, it's not as if we've left anyone hanging with regards to the series' future platform. We never made any promises about a sequel to PD during our brief span of GameCube development, and while we do retain the rights to the franchise, the fact that we're now a fully-fledged part of Microsoft Game Studios pretty much rules out the possibility of us bringing any titles to non-Xbox systems (bar GBA). Yes, I can see where you're coming from, but Rare didn't change systems just to spite you personally, you know.

OMG! This is the most fanboyish thread I've ever read. PD would only be coming to GC if Nintendo still had Rare. They don't. Rare owns the rights to all of it's original characters and franchises, which means that we won't see any Banjo-Kazooie, Jet Force Gemini and Perfect Dark games on GC or on any Nintendo system for, if ever, a long time. If you really want PD, go buy an X-box, because that is the ONLY way you'll be playing it.

Nintendo and Rare were never in a battle for franchises or anything likie that. They left nintendo on good terms, why do people want to make it seem like there was a big dispute? Anyway, game zero isnt an fps, dont ask me for links cause i cant be bothered but if you want to believe it is then youll only be let down at E3 when your proved wrong.

One last thing, is there any more info on where they're based as I know they are very near to where I live.

Ok. It's like this.
Rare owns the intellectual property and rights for Perfect Dark.
Thus a game called "Perfect Dark" will never appear on the Gamecube. END OF STORY.
