It sounds like this one is going to be a lot longer than the first game which had a time limit of like 7 hours or something like that.  I am definately going to be watching this one like a hawk.  (damnit... might have to get that broadband adaptor)
Once I had, a little game
I liked to crawl back into my brain
I think you know the game I mean

Hmmm. Let's hope that the unlimited time thing means that some of the puzzles are more difficult. Pikmin 1 was just so darn easy, with the exception of that last boss.

Sounds great.

As for the puzzles, I felt they had the right difficulty for EAD's purposes . I have a pamphlet that Nintendo Power sent about Pikmin before it was released and Miyamoto commented that they were really trying to restrain themselves on the puzzle aspect, laying the pieces out in a way that seemed natural. Plus I felt it kind of added to the replay value because after you finished the game you could go back and see how effeciently you could bring the pieces back to the ship. I liked that kind of compete-with-yourself gameplay, but I'll admit Pikmin was begging for a less time constrained, more adventure oriented design. It looks like we'll be getting that.

They took away the time limit feature. Hopefully the game will be designed well enough so that the limited time feature won't make the game too easy. Last time the time limit was integrated into to the game and was vital to the gameplay, and I liked the sense of urgency it placed upon the player. I'm sure they'll make changes though to coincide with the elimination of the time limit.

I like the new changes they made, but the best part IMO is the revealing of 60 different types of enemies. I really enjoyed the enemies in Pikmin as they are well varied, if this continues in Pikmin 2 then...

Random dungeons sound great too.

Guess not many people are excited about Pikmin 2.

The random dungeons are very interesting, i wonder how they will work? Im liking the idea of 2-player, this game has huge potential if you really think about it. I cant wait for Pikmin 2

Anyone know of any sort of release date?

Does anyone think that it could potentialy have a LAN option? while the co-op is awesome...I'm greedy w/ my screen space in games like these, I don't care how lucrative it would be to get multi cubes/tvs for the option.

This games sounds sweet.  I loved the original, but I beat in a rent.  From what I've heard, this game is much longer, which is great.

As for puzzles.. eh.  I didn't really like the last Pikmin level, because it was too openly puzzley, and didn't feel organic.  It just felt like Zelda or the Lost Vikings, while the rest of the game had a great, realistic survival and nature theme.  The last boss, however, was very cool.

Also, I hope they put a limit on the number of Pikmin you can store per Onion - I don't know what the limit was in the last game, but I never reached it.  It'd just be way too easy to store up thousands and never run out.

Co-op sounds excellent, as well as single-player with two parties of Pikmin.  Very nice.  I also think that explains the "more than 100 Pikmin" phenomenon - each character can control a hundred, but you can only control one at a time, and they happened to be together at that time.

Oh, and I wanna be able to control some bulbugs or whatever they are called!

How cool would pikmin 2 be in two player mode, think of the possibilities! Each player has a base with onions and supplies and such, you both raise a massive army of Pikmin in a certain time limit, then you fight each other to the death! Or in co-op, one player does all the pikmin collecting and the other one fights with them! omg that would be so cool! Does Pikmin 2 come out this year?

Pikmin 1 was great, but some faults were there.  Hopefully, with this Pikmin, some of them will be corrected.  For example, the graphics sometimes clipped, especially with enemy monsters.  That and these monsters were quite stupid as predators.  If they ran after you, they would stop after reaching a certain point, walk back, and go to sleep after a half a minute.
A fun game nonetheless, and, in my opinion, the best game GCN has to offer (mainly because of its originality).
I got some killaz on my payroll.

I hope that battles are better this time around.  Most enemies could be defeated by simply running around behind them and throwing Pikmin.  I'd like to see some more sea monsters this time around, maybe even some ghosts (that would be so cool).  Pikmin 1 seemed like it was missing Miyamoto's magical touch.  There just wasn't enough whimsy about it.  I hope Pikmin II fixes it, instead of trying to be a Sci-Fi Soap Opera.

i got dissapointed by some previews....

ive been pretty odd.... i was really looking forward to pikmin2 and wario world, but so far pikmin 2 has been called a rehash... and wario world is still very cool still, just not as cool... by a bit.

tho the news is that fzero does not dissapoint, same with re4, and othjers.

EDIT: I just read the features on Nintendo's E3 2k3 and it seems it isnt a rehash!
I post on many forums, including: PNF, N-Philes forums, MFO, TMC and others.

What?! Pikmin seems like one of the most whimsical games on the GameCube!  It's like it combines the utter bizarreness of Mario-style enemies with the sober recollections of an adventurous scientist.  I *loved* that style.  Just awesome.  Pikmin had a unique organic design that I have not seen in any other game.

i would guess the game may be released later this year in japan and early next year for the us
it all depends on how far along they are- they should have about a good year and a half on the game
nintendo power released a pamphlet on pikmin right after it came out (in 2001) and in an interview with miyamoto he said that he was seeing how they could make a pikmin sequal and that he wanted to raise the popularity of pikmin to a very high status
basically they probably have had ideas for a while now and we are now starting to see some of the work
hopefully the game will come out this year but i would rather have a great game delayed than see a rush job on it
i call the big one bitey.

I just bought Pikmin 1 new on Ebay for 12€ hope that was worth it.
