VP vacates position after slightly less than two years on the job.

Denise Kaigler, Nintendo's vice president of Marketing and Corporate Affairs, has announced that she is leaving the company.  Her last day was Friday, November 20.

Denise replaced Nintendo of America icon Perrin Kaplan in January 2008, following a 16-year stint at Reebok.  She cites personal reasons for her departure, and certainly the fact that she lives in New England while Nintendo's offices are in the San Francisco Bay area played a role in her decision.

Speaking to Kotaku, NOA's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing Cammie Dunaway said, "Denise Kaigler has been a valuable part of the Nintendo of America team for the last two years. She's made a personal decision to spend more time with her family in New England. We wish her all the best in this next chapter of her life, and we look forward to continuing to deliver great Nintendo experiences to people of all ages as we head into this holiday season".

No replacement for Kaigler has been announced.

Meh, seems like she was just a random executive. I don't think most people have even heard of her and her resignation won't mean much.

Reggie has apparently digested Kaigler into the Force.

Incidentally, the first footage I have of her is she playing The Force Unleashed (or trying to).

I wonder who will take over the IGN 'Nintendo Minute' answers then. They should badger Reggie again.

I hope she does well wherever she goes, but is there a reason we should really care about this?  At this point, I'm considering every public figure in Nintendo of America to just be a figurehead since they just follow whatever lead Nintendo of Japan sets.

This is particularly sad, but terribly true.

I think they can also veto bringing a title to the US, though, but that's about it.

Treehouse is nice, but they don't do original development, do they?  I think the Treehouse needs a PR person so we hear more from them.

She is. And she even started her own company to make them but she has to wait a certain amount of time because of a "No Competition Clause" she signed when she went to work for Nintendo. It was an agreement that upon her departure she had to wait a certain amount of time before entering the same field as a competitor.
