RIP Captain Lou Albano
« on: October 14, 2009, 01:11:48 PM »
WWE Hall of Fame wrestler and the man who played Mario in the live action segments and the voice of Mario in Super Mario Bros. Super Show died today. Really sad news, he seemed like a really great guy.

I have the Super Mario Bros Super Show on DVD and I love how he did the show.
Maxi is dead. I killed him and took his posts and changed genders.

Poor Cyndi Lauper.  I hope this means she can finally go out with that nice boy.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

I was just thinking the same thing. But maybe now they will have a wrestling Mario episode.

You're an asshat, but its ok cuz we all grieve in our own way.

I just read the news somewhere else and came here to post it only yo see I was beaten to the ppunch, but no matter, I'm still here to say:

Lou will totally be missed. I wasn't into wrestling as a kid but I loved him on the SMBSS. It look like I'll be watching a marathon of the show in his honour this weekend.. :(

When was the last time any of you heard about captain lou?? Last time was years back when he was on some (news?) Special about wrestling where he got so mad at whoever tried to call it fake/staged... it was actually kinda scary seeing the guy I knew as the real life incarnation of Mario all red in the face and screaming violently..

I hope he's in heaven now, wrestling with jesus and laughing about the time Luigi dropped bthe F-bomb on the show.

RIP

The only DVDs I own are of the Super Mario Brothers Super Show!. I do not own a DVD player. I've never watched the second volume so I guess it is time to borrow a DVD player.

Why don't you own a DVD player? They are so cheap! Heck I could probably send you a spare one that I have around the house, it may even be an upconvert DVD player!

Because I don't really watch much movies or shows. Anything I'd want to see will be on the telly eventually.

Homebrew your Wii into a DVD player. You already have all the necessary technology.
You also have a computer..... no DVD drive? How old is that junk heap your brother(?) gave you?

Manufactured in 2005 according to the system data screen. It actually does have a drive with the DVD logo on it but I've never tried using it so I don't know what it does. If I wanted to use it I'd probably have to talk to ShyGuy again to get it working...

You have your sound working. I assume you have windows which comes with Media Player, so you should be all set to go. Pop the DVD in the drive and see what happens. You probably want to get some external speakers before you attempt to watch it though.

I'm assuming it's going to need a driver like everything else on here. Like ShyGuy said, my computer is confused. It thinks it has different stuff than it does. So that won't be an easy task, but I guess it's worth trying.

An SD card is all you need to turn your Wii into a DVD player.

I actually used one of the SMBSS DVDs to test out DVD video on the Wii when it first came out.

So it turns out Captain Lou was living in a town maybe an hour or so away from me. That's the second semi-celeb thats died recently that turned out to live/die near me. I don't like this coincidence...
