I'm surprised there isn't already a huge thread for the game, seeing as it came out less than a week ago. I personally think it's great. It plays pretty much the same way as the original, but I'm not complainnig about that. I love the huge world, the extremely creative dungeon, and all the wonderful Djinn! I have 17 Djinn now and have been playing for roughly 14 hours (according to Camelot, there's roughly 40 hours of gameplay, so I've barely scratched the surface). I seriously reccomend this game to everyone.

but once i did i got into the game and love it
i am not as far as you though- only about 4 hours into it- but the game is just as good as the last one

I love the game.  But unless I am missing something there seems to be no real set explanation on what to do next, other than to "go explore."  and hope you stuble onto the next "mission"  But the game is as good as the first if not better.

I am now going after the second Trident Piece.  I think I have 19 Djinn, 4 Venus and 5 of all the others. My characters are almost to level 30 but I don't know how long I have been playing, hours seem to pass like minutes.

I've been playing nearly non stop since i got the game...

I have 34:41 time at the moment, (and ive still managed to have time for Ikaruga)
Djinn wise
7 Jupiter
*8* Mars
5 Venus
6 Mercury

I'm still trying to figure out that 8th Mars djinn, its annoying me because i can't junction it to anyone, it screws up my classes... i wonder why i have 8 of em.

There have been *MANY* places in the game where I've gotten stuck, it rarely tells you where to go, exploring seems to be the best way, and thats a problem, because the world map is HUGE in this game.  I can now go just about anywhere, and I believe im very few psynergy short of going Everywhere.

I'm almost at the next lighthouse...I think.... Surprisingly, there haven't been that many boss battle's, but the last ones I've been in have been insanely difficult fights.  Much harder than *anything* in the original golden sun by a longshot (harder than most RPG's Period.)

My team is about level 36ish, almost caught up with my previous team..  Which i still have yet to run into (though there has been quite some talk about good ol' Syl and Co.)

I think I heard somewhere that there're 11 of each type of Djinn, which is a ton- 44 total, which is 16 more than there were in the original. I'm at Gaia Rock right now. Funny thing is, a friend of mine has been playing only 6 or 7 hours and is almost as far as I am. Granted he did rush through *everything* (is a much lower level than I am and has far fewer Djinn), but it's pretty impressive he got there so fast.

Bleck. After much toil, I've beaten the serpent, got another Jupiter Djinn (18 now!), and picked up the two multi-elemental summons I was missing. I'm a happy camper.

Also, I need to ask you guys a question that's been plaguing me since the first Golden Sun- is it pronounced DEjinn or just Jinn? I originally pronounced the D but I now think it's meant to be silent (the African country of Djinouti is pronounced as if the D was silent), and so pronounce it as such. Which way is correct? Maybe Rick with his mad English skillz can help me out.

I got The Lost Age when it came out about a week ago and was playing it all through spring break. I've beaten it already but that's after playing from when i wake up (around 8:00) to when i go to sleep (around 1:00 am) for a few days. I loved every minute, especialy when I heard about my old party from some townsfolk. I think i'm missing 7 Djinn, I have all of the Jupiters, i think. I'd go look for the rest but i'm to lazy to right now....

EDIT: Oh yeah, My party was in their high 30's when I beat the game, Felix being 40.

It's pronounced Jinn, like Gin and Tonic. Or Djinn and Tonic

I thought so, Nitsu.

Chris: Yeah, you're missing some- there's a whoppnig 11 Djinn of each type attainable in The Lost Age- that plus the 28 you get from Isaac and co. (if you got all the Djinn in Golden Sun) makes the total an incredible 72. O_O

I beat the game yesterday, team average is around 45, I've been training for the past few hours, about to reach 50 on a few characters.

The story at the end of the game is rather moving, and much, much deeper than the original would have made you believe.  I'm lacking some high quality equipment for some characters, I need to find out what monster drops what so i can get it.

I'm missing *3* djinn total, 2 mercuary and 1 venus, I've tried using hte gamefaqs guide to find them, but that is just far to vague, i need one with american names so that i have a chance of finding hte final 3 i need (and i really need them, theres one area that you need every Djinn to open... stronger summons maybe?)

I loved the game, and enjoyed it *much* more than hte original, which is saying quite a bit.  If you never played the original, there are parts of this game that you would be lost about, namely the ending, and some other, battles that have story based in the original.

I've been playing a bit of Vice City the past couple of days, so I haven't  been spending 3-4 hours on GS2 like I normally do. Still, I have 19 Djinn total and have just entered Tundaria Tower for my 3rd Trident piece.

O, i forgot to mention.

there are certain spell's in golden sun 2 that are just AMAZING.
DreamTide (Pirate Sword Crit)
is probably my favorite looking thing in ANY sprite based game. EVER.

o, and "Megiddo" something you should hopefully be seeing near the end of the game.
First time i saw that, its so pretty, my eyes literally teared up.

Not only that, but it's the strongest weapon special attack i've seen, and Isaac uses it every time!

yeah, same here, my Isaac (Syl)'s Equipment gives him roughly a 90ish % of weapon crit...

and megiddo is incredibly strong, hell, its stronger than most magic i have.

and its pretty... far.. .far.. far.... to pretty.

i don't have any weapons anywhere near as powerful as the Sol Blade though, with any of my other characters.  my second strongest weapon is actually the "Atropos' Rod" that i have Jenna using, and thats a rare drop from "Fire dragons" in the desert cave.  Really cool crit though, "Life Shear"

my Ivan is still using Swift Sword from the first game, O_o; ive upgraded to weapons with better damage on him (like masamune) but for some reason, the Swift Swords 4x attack crit always ends up doing more damage (and he has 200 wind power!)

I spent all day today getting Djinni I missed- 10 total (my group jumped from 19 to 29). I think I'll be getting at least 3 or 4 more tomorrow.

I not only managed to get EVERY djinn.  And beat EVERY secret boss.

(there are ALOT of hidden sidequests.. sheesh)

The boss of the game is pathetic compared to some of the bosses that they make you go through in the hidden area's.
O my god.. the final boss i fought made the WEAPONS in 7 look like pansies.

I didn't think the game was really that hard, but, after that boss fight, i can't think of anyway  a turn based boss fight could be ANY harder.  that thing was INSANE. took me 2.5 hours to fight the thing.

I'll just mention this:
Get every djinn and win a prize =).

To be honest Strange its best to buy both. The stories are interconnected and while buying the first game isn't a necessity to understand the story.....it makes your experience with the Lost Age much better. Plus you can transfer you data from the first game into the second. Am I the only one keeping my fingers cross for a GC version of Golden Sun being shown at E3?

then  you would recomend if to only get one then start with the original  leaving open the option to later get the second ?

if you do not like turned based fighting on most games is it still standable or as great as i have heard?
i could use a good epic quest to rival  diablo II is it similar or nothing the same?

Well, strangem Golden Sun is a classic turn based random battle RPG while Diablo 2 is, well, completely different. If you sdon't like turn based battles, that may turn you off of GS since it's battles are straight turn based with little to no strategy involved (I really wish they'd update the battle system), but it's a lot more puzzle heavy than most RPG's, so it's a bit like Zelda in that sense. If I were you, I'd borrow it from a friend or someone before I bought it. I'm a hardcore RPG fan, so I picked it up without hesitation, but you might want to try it out first.

Thanks mouse clicker,  maybe I'll give it a rental, i  Zelda series but I am not sure if I would have if it was turn based. That reason alone kept me from ever getting to far into any of the final fantasy games as well.

Although I have been considering picking up skies of arcadia lately.

By the way your new aviator works perfect with your name, lol

Skies of Arcadia is an astounding RPG, but be ready for a LOT of random enemy battles. A friend of mine actually calculated the average length between random battles- 1.986 seconds.

You like my new avatar? I actually made it myself in paint- I hadn't intended on going for the slightly frightened look, but it kind of came out. Props goes to Gamefreak for formatting and hosting it for me.
