I was inspired by this thread to check, and surprised at what I found:

189 hours for Monster Hunter
181 hours for My Life as a King (!)
156 hours for Rune Factory Frontier
149 hour for Brawl

74 hours for Zelda, everything else less.

Yikes.

No fences, but that is seriously scary.  Tell me you left My Life as a King on for extended periods of time without playing.

No fences, but that is seriously scary.  Tell me you left My Life as a King on for extended periods of time without playing.

That probably accounts for about four or five hours, but mostly it's just me playing it a ton.  I like management games; Sim City stole hundreds of hours of my life, and Civ IV in particular has seen over a thousand hours of playtime.

That  number is totally believable for Rune Factory. That game is  slooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow

Too true: I never even got married in the game, although I beat the main quest.  And whoever thought that having flowers take an entire year of 20-minute days needs to be fired.

How come I almost never see you online in Tri then?

Bar exam's at the end of this month; I'll be free to play much more after that, although I'll be splitting my time with Dragon Age as well.  But I'll gladly start showing up on Tuesdays again, at the least.

  Four.  Definitely four.

You'd be surprised. Mario Kart Wii is so unpredictable that even today, I see things I never thought could happen.

Though really, it's an online game. The trick is to find a community that's really enjoyable to play with. My time isn't even a quarter of some of the people I've come across.

I actually don't think I have played Mario Kart Wii since getting Monster Hunter Tri, I wouldn't mind playing it again sometime. Same with Animal Crossing. In fact, looking at my play history made me realize there are quite a few games I'm neglecting. Stupid Monster Hunter.

Did you play/enjoy any previous Excite game?

Not much depth?  Really?  Maybe if you turn off your brain and not consider item trajectories (both to and from your rivals), item placements (reading your rivals' favorite routes and dropping items in key locations), reading ahead for environmental cues (for example, the tide in Peach Beach or the paths of Wigglers on Maple Treeway), strategically slowing down slightly to position yourself for a draft boost on a rival, etc, etc...

Mario Kart is actually one of the deepest racers ever, and it's the fact players of every level can enjoy it that makes the game so popular and addicting.

And NOA_Reggie still owns the track.  Always looking for new challengers to punt off Reggie Road.  :reggie:

Somewhat.  I put maybe 10 hours into ExciteBots.  I enjoyed it well enough but didn't feel the need to play it to completion.  I've only played the NES original for a few minutes at a time.  Never tried the N64 version.

Hey, don't bring me down with your tirade using your own insecurities, man. :P:

Maybe it's just the people I play the game with.  Race, use a red shell, hope to dodge a forthcoming blue shell out of nowhere, crash, lose a few spots, race back up to get where you were originally, start a new lap, rinse, and repeat.

Mario Kart DS and Mario Kart 64 are MUCH better Mario Karts. The Wii game is flawed beyond belief with its horrible item system. I should be in first place and still have the opportunity to obtain a star, lightning bolt, or red shells! But this game is designed to NEVER let you get that.  Ridiculous.

Mario Kart 64 is flawed beyond belief with its horrible rubber banding.  At least item induced rubber banding is something the player can understand.

Super Mario Kart is the best Mario Kart. :)

If I had to rank Karts, I'd probably go...

Super Mario Kart (Great because it's pure)
Mario Kart Super Circuit (Great because it's closest to the above)
Mario Kart Wii (Bikes are a great addition. Has best multiplayer of all of them)
Mario Kart Double Dash (Just a good game)
Mario Kart DS (Flawed because of snaking)
Mario Kart 64 (Terribly flawed because of rubber-banding)

What Mario Karts can you get a lightning bolt or a star in first place?

I believe in Super Mario Kart you can get any item you want as long as your button timing is just right as the item spinner goes around.  It's not "rubber-banded" like in Mario Kart Wii.

Is that confirmed to be true, or is that conjecture?

In either case, how is that a flaw when comparing Mario Kart Wii vs. Mario Kart DS and 64?

Mop it up started playing on April 26.  That gives her 83 days of play time though yesterday.

435 hours / 24 hours = 18.13 days of play time
18.13 days / 83 days = 21.8% of her life over the past 83 days has been spent playing MH3

The average person sleeps for 7 hours a day.  That's 29% of your life.

That means she played for 30% of her awake life. :)

Must be a pretty awesome game and that time sink is part of the reason I avoided it. :)

Actually April 24th, it came earlier than expected. And in my defense, Thatguy tricked me into plaything through the whole game with him, so that he could write an article about it.

And yeah, I've never needed as much sleep as the average person. There have been times when I've slept only on my days off (and boy did I!). I expect this to change when I get older, but for now, I'm young and living it up.

I should be in first place and still have the opportunity to obtain a star, lightning bolt, or red shells! But this game is designed to NEVER let you get that.  Ridiculous.
That would make things extremely broken. In fact, Mario Kart 64 let you get those items in second place, and it was ridiculous.  Besides, you shouldn't need those items to keep first, if you have the skill. And I also don't know what you'd need a red shell in first for, there's no one ahead of you to fire it at.
