Best place to pick up PS3 games in LONDON?
« on: September 30, 2009, 02:06:45 PM »
Hey guys,

I remember that in a recent podcast, Greg mentioned being able to get cheap-ass PS3 games because they don't sell in England.

Well, I just learned that the PS3's games are region-free, AND I happen to go to London on vacation for two weeks. :) I certainly wouldn't mind picking up a few PS3 games on the cheap (and of course, that DS Tingle game).

Can any Brit here tell me in general what the best places to shop for video games are?

Thanks!

I was just in London for two weeks. They have two game stores: HMS, which is normally in malls, and Game, which I never actually saw.

You're better off getting your PS3 games stateside, though. If you pay in pounds, you're basically paying 50% more in dollars.
This would be my PSN Trophy Card, but I guess I can't post HTML in my Signature. I'm the pixel spaceship, and I have nine Gold trophies.

Thanks! I guess you're right, it's just that Greg on the podcast made it sound like he had had an awesome deal on LittleBigPlanet, and PS3 games in general got discounted really quickly. But I guess it's all relative.

Yeah, he told me that PS3 games will sometimes not sell at that well, so stores will try to chop costs to free up shelf space. I think it's a matter of luck, though.

HMS? Don't you mean HMV? And yes it makes less sense to buy them here than vice versa. I go to the states and get games at effectively half price.

I did too. £20. It got slashed very quickly after release. I got Mirror's Edge for £5 ($8!).
