Ok let's post pictures of different big name Wii games and see if Lindy's conclusion is true that you can't tell the difference between each game. The fact is that in this poll are all major HD games. So it would only be fair to do the same with the big Wii games, and see!

I think this topic has merit in the sense that instead of creating something new with HD graphics they tend to stick with the tried and true. I made a similar topic back when I first got my 360 when I noticed how many games shared the same engine, the same design and even the same textures.

I think it could, however, have been expressed in a better way.

I changed the title to "HD shooters fail" because you won't be seeing LBP or Uncharted in that list.

I did my level best at this quiz and got around 45%. Seriously, the point that many shooters look identical is a valid one.

I don't have a Facebook account, but I'm pretty sure I got all of them right. The screens are small, too mask the discrepancies, but none of those games are actually *that* much alike. The ones without a HUD can be hard to tell, but come on, showing a first person view of a realistic earth-based scene and saying every FPS is the same is a pretty weak argument. You might as well show pics of a racetrack and blur the makes and models of the cars, shrink the pics, and try to argue that all racers are the same.

We will have colorful HD games. Full spectrum vibrant living colors. we've got over 32,000 of them to use, no need to focus on only those in the Brown sector of the HD spectrum.

The fact you have to think at all makes it sad considering those games and games that look like those dominate the charts for 360/PS3.

LittleBigPlanet is a fine game that's just lacking a satisfying single-player and has a troublesome physics engine when it comes to jumping (it's too realistic, so Sackboy can only jump a foot or so forward and half that upward).

And I hate to keep bringing this game up (but I will, since everyone forgets it), but you guys are forgetting Valkyria Chronicles in your list of non-brown gorgeous HD games.

The Nintendo fanbase and the Wii userbase are not the same thing; the former is a small subset of the latter.

And I don't forget about Valkyria Chronicles, that's the one and only game that I would want for the PS3.

You could make the same argument about Nintendo and their franchises.  Instead of creating new IP they stick with the tried and true - Mario, Mario Kart, Smash Bros., Metroid Prime re-release, New Play Control re-releases, etc.  Of course, the counter-argument to that is the new stuff they've done like Wii Sports/Resort, Punch-Out!!, Wii Fit, Wii Music, and a bunch of awesome (and original) DS games.

My point is that this all feeds into a stereotype that reinforces what you don't like about the other consoles.  So what if you don't like first-person shooters?  Just ignore them.  They aren't made for you anyways, just like Nintendo games on the whole aren't made for some people either.  This entire thread is fanboy troll-baiting, and it gets so old.  You could go to a PS3 or 360 forum and see a thread just like this turned around on the Wii, with the same hyperbolic arguments and blanket statements.

Stuff like this just drags down the atmosphere of these forums...that's why I don't like it.

Yes because there are 20 similar looking kart racers on the Wii and DS, not to mention a dozen or so 4 player fighers, or fighters in general that play almost the same, can't forget all the Metroid Prime Clones, etc etc.

And Nintendo really should stop milking its franchises. Mario Kart Wii, Mario Kart Wii Tournament Edition & Mario Kart: GTHD are just too similar and frequent. The madness must stop.

To a certain extend, I agree that this topic could have presented itself in a better way. But it DOES have merit in the sense that it displays one of the biggest issues this generation has seen; console typecasting.

Developers see that X game sells on Y console and figure out that in order to see success on Y console you must make X games for it. On the HD platforms they think dark and realistic shooters sell the most. On the Wii they see that casual games sell the best. All three suffer from the issue of being typecasted into being one kind of console.

There ARE games that differ from the norm. Games like Little Big Planet, Blaz Blu, Street Fighter and such on the HD consoles, Muramasa, No More Heroes, Conduit and such on the Wii.

Again, I think the topic of discussion has merit since its an issue that has plagued this generation of games. It just needed to be presented in a better manner rather than the tired fanboy cliche.
