"In the wake of this year's fantastic E3, we'll take a closer look at some of the big Wii and DS titles slated for the rest of 2009. That includes an in-depth investigation of the long awaited Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box. We'll also review Wii Sports Resort and maybe even unveil a couple of cool surprises. I wouldn't get my hopes up but it would be nice if later in the year Nintendo springs a surprise game on us like they did with ExciteBots.

It's Nintendo Power, so I have no idea what to speculate about.  That could be anything and nothing, and it's just not worth getting wrapped-up into until they choose to announce it.

And let's face it: Nintendo is probably the single most secretive/paranoid gaming company in the world.  I'd be shocked if they had announced everything they were working on at E3.

Brood has a point, in fact many people IN NINTENDO didn't even know about Metroid: Other M.

Yeah, this is something Nintendo has always done.  Their own studio's are never informed with what the other studios are doing.  This is something people have to remember when they wonder why certain Nintendo games have features other ones don't.

Pretty much every Nintendo studio is it's own island that does it's own thing without any interaction from the other studio's.  Now there are some times where two studio's will help each other out on a certain game, but for the most part, each of them is isolated from the others.

That isn't always necessarily a bad thing, though. By being isolated the different studios can develop unique personalities or cultures or whatever, so each studio will offer a different flavor to their games. Without that isolation all the studios would probably be very similar to one another.

QFT.

Before the internal merging of the EAD studios, there was on one EAD (Shiggy's) and the rest were R&D studios. They developed their own ways of making games long before they got the EAD label, it's pretty much evident in the NES games. EAD didn't develop alot of NES games outside the Mario/Zelda games (or I might be wrong).

That'd be awesome but imagine seeing island natives in mii-form while your EO character is more realistic.. that'd look weird as hell (but probably good for a laugh)

Strange looking natives on a LOST island.... sounds perfect.

You might even see yourself running the island, I think it would be a perfect little easter egg.

I find the metaphor "the cat was let out of the bag" offensive. Who puts cats in bags? Are we in rural china?

Bagged cats are more convenient for Domo-kun.

More seriously, the metaphor comes from scammers in Ye Olde Times selling bags allegedly containing some valuable animal and when the gullible buyer thinks he's got a great deal and takes the bag home he opens it to find a cat inside (which isn't terribly valuable).

Sure you can!

Just don't expect many people to jump on that idea.

My guess is, as far as Nintendo games go, we'll hear more concrete stuff on already announced/mentioned games like Pikmin or Dynamic Slash. Probably their motion+ compatibility
