Xseed is localizing the latest Wii title from Namco's Project Aces team.

 Xseed Games recently revealed to IGN that they will localize and publish The Sky Crawlers: Innocent Aces in North America.    

The Sky Crawlers is an arcade flight simulator for the Wii developed by Project Aces, who are responsible for the Ace Combat games. In the game you play as Lynx, a rookie pilot that joins the Sky Crawlers squadron and is involved in a secret project that makes pilots immortal.    

The game features a cutting-edge 3-D engine, and very realistic and detailed graphics. Team Aces also created a unique control scheme for the game that mimics real flight controls. Players hold the Nunchuk in their right hand and use it to simulate a flight stick. The Wii Remote is held in your left hand and it controls the throttle. To accelerate, you tilt the Wii Remote forward; to decelerate, you tilt the controller downwards.    

The Sky Crawlers is actually based on a series of novels in Japan written by Hiroshi Mori. Xseed will keep the translation and story faithful to the Japanese version of the game. It will feature English voiceovers; however, Xseed is looking into including the original Japanese voiceovers as well.    

"IGN: What are you keeping and changing translation-wise?    

Xseed Games: As mentioned above, since the story is quite universal, we have decided to stay as faithful to the Japanese as possible. Some expressions had to be localized to English equivalents, but other than that, not much was changed.    

IGN: Will you keep the original voicework? What about new voice work?    

Xseed Games: While there will most definitely be English voice in the US release, the issue of keeping the original Japanese voice in is something we are still looking into. Many constraints have to be considered (e.g. disc space, rights, etc.), but we are trying our best to figure out a way to keep both if we can."    

The Sky Crawlers: Innocent Aces will be released this holiday season in North America.

Yup the Ace Combat team made the Nunchuk the flight stick, and Wii Remote the throttle. I heard it works really well.

I had given up hope of getting this. Thanks XSeed! The game Heatseeker had an optional control scheme with the Nunchuk acting as a flight stick which I preferred to use, hopefully this game does it as well or better.

This makes me wonder how much it costs to buy the publishing rights to a game. In the XSEED interview I posted it seems they need to convince the original publisher that there's a need for the game in the Americas and they need healthy sales numbers to prove it.

XSEED is getting a lot of games lately so does this mean that they are making some profit off these games?

Hurrah! I've been hoping for Project Ace's Wii effort to get a North American localization and that hope has been answered. Now, here's to the game being good.

Indeed. Japan's games and their nonsensical subtitles.
The "innocent" could be related to the world the game is set in that is based off the movie that's based off a book. The setting is pretty wacky (Japan, again) where the pilots are Kildren who don't age and are used to fight (proxy?) wars.
