No More Heroes and Muramasa: The Demon Blade would be likely candidates to receive port treatment.
 http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/newsArt.cfm?artid=18975

In a financial presentation, Marvelous Entertainment has announced that they are planning on bringing some of their Wii titles to the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 as part of their efforts to broaden their console support.

Some of the Wii Marvelous games include Little King's Story, Arc Rise Fantasia, Muramasa: The Demon Blade and No More Heroes. They did not comment on which games would be ported, but games that don't rely heavily on the Wii controls would probably be likely candidates.

In the case of No More Heroes, the title was originally going to be an Xbox 360 title until Suda 51 expressed interest in the Wii Remote and updated the game to have motion controls. However, Suda 51 expressed that while he wishes to continue the No More Heroes franchise beyond its upcoming sequel, No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle, he says that http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/02/suda-51-next-no-more-heroes-wont-be-on-wii/">it won't be on the Wii, stating that "we've done everything we can with it for now."

The low sales of these titles could have also inspired Marvelous' decision to support all consoles.

Can Marvelous afford to make a game for 360 or PS3?  They ain't cheap to make.

I question whether there's really a market for these games.  I would think that anyone who has a 360 or PS3 and is interested in Marvelous games likely already has a Wii.  They don't exactly make games targeted towards the masses.  I'm sure they'll sell a few copies, but I wouldn't expect any of their games to blow up the charts on another system.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Could No More Heroes' combat even work on the other systems and still be fun?  Setting aside the recently-announced Sony/Microsoft motion controllers (which are still a long ways off), I really don't see swinging the Sixaxis around or pushing an analog stick working at all for the motion finishers.  The rest of Marvelous' stuff are probably easy ports, though, and I can't blame them for thinking about seeking out other consoles when people don't buy their stuff (so far) on Wii.

Marvelous is a niche developer, all of their games have low sales (same with publishers like SNK Playmore). We also all know that Suda's games be be nice from an artistic point of view, but none of them have been a success in terms of sales numbers (even on the PS2).

Considering Japan doesn't buy non-household-name console games, and Marvelous doesn't exercise effective niche-game marketing in the West, things are tough for them.  You can only be so thrifty with your console game business, unless it's focused on handheld gaming.

BUT YEAH, they'd go out of business spending money to develop an HD game.

Who says they'd have to shell out the bucks that generally go into a next-gen HD project?  Most of their stuff (especially Suda 51's) are arthouse projects that rely more on style than sheer horsepower anyway (really, would Killer 7 have looked any different on the Xbox?).  Just push the artistic edge a little with the art design and put it out on as many consoles as possible.  I'd be surprised if Marvelous dropped Wii support altogether.  This probably just means that their projects could go multiplatform to maximize sales on their niche titles.

Suda51 could be heading into trouble if he makes an HD No More Heroes. I just don't see that audience being nearly as receptive as the Wii audience (then again even at that the sales weren't amazing on Wii).

Assumptions are alright, but Suda51 and us won't know until he releases a game for those consoles.

I don't see Suda 51's games selling well on any console, because for the most part they're niche arthouse games.  Hell, has Suda 51 ever made a hit game that sold well at retail?  Shadow of the Collosus is the only niche arthouse game I can think of that have ever sold well.  I'm honestly amazed that companies are still willing to produce them, especially in this financial climate.

Even SotC didn't sell terribly well, don't even believe it hit 1 million worldwide (Could be wrong though).

No, I think you're right there.  It sold "well enough", but its placement as a Player's Choice title is a bit dubious sales-wise.

Do they actually think that ANYBODY is going to buy NMH on 360? You can't put a game that looks like that on 360 and expect it to sell. It just doesn't work that way.

And NMH with no motion control? gtfo

Why don't we just put MadWorld on there while we're at it?

But to be honest, I'm kind of disappointed that the next NMH won't be on the Wii. I was hoping for a trilogy, and I can't see the transition going quite that directly or smoothly from Wii to 360. I mean sure, I'll buy it, but it won't be the same... Also I think he'll be alienating a lot of people if it makes the switch.

I still wonder if Devil May Boobies from Platnium will sell on the HD consoles (it might, just for th DOA fans alone). Madworld however will flop on those consoles.

Just like Super Monkey Ball did last generation on PS2/Xbox.

This makes me angry because of all the things Bayonetta is, tittie monster is NOT it. Also, the game is like Devil May Cry on LSD, so I don't see any reason it wouldn't sell.

Indeed. It's more of a hairy monster. Also, I'm not quite sure how DoA fans will take to Bayonetta's promised difficulty.

Because it's a more traditional gaming experience, with more of a focus on being visually powerful instead of visually stylish, though it's not lacking in that department.

Little King Story doesn't use any motion controls. That's the most likely candidate, I would think.

I wonder if it would even pay to even port it though, I can almost guarantee there will be much less interest on 360/PS3 for a game like that then on Wii.

PS2 games (not sure if Sony changed it for the PSP or PS3) only have to sell 400K copies and be out for 6 months to qualify for Greatest Hits status.

Ok, so the bar is set dramatically lower for Sony than it is for Nintendo.  Figures.  But yeah, that number's got to be about what Sony's using for the PS3 as well, because otherwise I don't know how Ninja Gaiden Sigma and Devil May Cry 4 could have achieved Player's Choice status.

Even artsy graphics don't prevent you from being expected to throw in more geometry and texture detail on an HD console. Don't do that and the game will look like a crappy cash-in. Suda makes up for low sales numbers with low budgets but I'm not sure he could make a game that's acceptable on the HD consoles with his reduced budgets. Especially open world games get in trouble, Prototype looks like arse by HD standards and that's still way better than what NMH did.

2D games like Muramasa are even worse off because 2D graphics aren't easily scalable and unless they were drawn at 3x the required size originally (which would be nonsense) they're going to end up looking low res in HD.

I still wonder if Devil May Boobies from Platnium will sell on the HD consoles (it might, just for th DOA fans alone)

I don't know if she had massive tits but I remember the trailer having so much overdone sex appeal I felt dumber just from watching it, made me feel like they think I'm a total idiot who will buy anything as long as it tones up the sexyness enough.

Little King Story doesn't use any motion controls. That's the most likely candidate, I would think.

I don't see that having much appeal to the HD audience at all. Besides, doesn't it have really underdetailled characters to fit them into the hardware limits?
