Yet another awesome thing about Conan: his taste in hockey teams.

I understand why--he feels comfort in siding with other losers.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Conan must be so giddy right now.

Quote
Jay Leno may be the next high-profile late-night host looking for a replacement.

Four months after taking back the "Tonight Show," Leno's ratings are actually behind those of Conan O'Brien.

The reality is starting to sink in at NBC that Leno is not only getting fewer viewers, but that his show is costing the cash-strapped network between $10 million and $15 million more a year than Conan's show did.

Leno's higher salary -- $30 million per year vs. Conan's $15 million -- plus the cost of his bigger production staff is pushing the show into the red, according to insiders.

"It's got the potential to be a huge embarrassment," says the source.

NBC is about to be taken over in a $28-billion deal with the cable giant Comcast.

"You can't figure they're happy about this," says the insider.

Leno has at least two more years to go on his NBC deal.
[...]
That means Leno not only trails O'Brien now, he is also way behind where he was when he left the show last year.

I'm only posting this because the thread asked me to.

http://tvbythenumbers.com/2010/09/02/tonight-show-ratings-lenos-repeats-below-conans-original-episodes-from-last-year/62013

More than twice the cost for (more or less) the same ratings.....
I wonder if NBC is kicking themselves yet?

You do realize they are comparing Leno's RERUNS vs. new episodes of Conan? Reruns rarely do as well in the ratings as new episodes and it would have been bigger news if the reruns did better ratings than new episodes. Not only that, but the reruns aired later than normal due to tennis coverage on NBC. What is interesting is that RERUNS of Leno still beat NEW episodes of Letterman (0.9 compared to 0.8 ). I would also like to point out that the article you posted only talked about one specific demographic (adults 18-49) rather than overall ratings.

Leno is also doing something that Conan rarely ever did, beat Letterman. Leno has beat Letterman every week since returning in March. Pretty much the only time Conan did that was after it became public that Conan was quitting NBC. Conan started off strong, but by September his ratings had really dropped.

you do realize that there is a chart showing O'Brien(09-10) vs Letterman(09-10 & '10 to present) vs Leno('10-present) on the same page right, and it doesn't just cover the week of reruns....

did you even bother to read the story or did you just look at the url?

p.s. who cares about the senior crowd. I'm sure you can't bank on them for the next 20 years that you would expect The Tonite Show host to be on the air.

I think we should think of this as the general Late Nite Talk Show Thread
Conan, Leno, Letterman, Ferguson, Kimmel, Fallon, Lopez, Stewart & Colbert

But now i got some awesome from Fallon, Timberlake & The Roots

I like Lopez Tonight. It's not my favorite late-night talkshow, but I like it more than Late Night with Jimmy Falon (Falon is just so annoying to me).

Never really liked his sitcom. His talk show is alright. His standups aren't really my cup of tea since it requires me to relate to things that I can't relate to.

His sitcom was great, it's better than most of the current sitcoms on TV (like The Office). His stand-up is not something I have seen much off.

This is probably it. His standup is really funny if you know and relate to what he talks about. I always thought that his 'too latino' comedy might not be funny for some, and here is proof. Heck, sometimes he gets too mexican and I find it not funny at all.
