Hmm, I never even heard of that phrase before. I guess I don't watch enough sci-fi or read enough Wikipedia. Interesting though. I always wondered what that phrase was about in Army of Darkness.

Pretty funny

Well its not klingon thats for damn sure. I've always heard references to it in geek culture but never knew what it was. One day i was bored and, as usual when i'm really REALLY bored, i'll hop on wikipedia and read up on random stuff. At the time The Day the Earth Stood Still (remake) was being released, so i read up on it and the original. Turns out that phrase is from the original movie and supposedly reused (in a different context) in the remake (though i didn't hear it) and is some sort of iconic geek phrase from the films climax.

yep..

The Day the Earth Stood Still (the black & white original) is a really good movie.  Also, the line was used once on Rocko's Modern Life, the episode in which they thought that Filburt was an alien. That's one kids show that's full of jokes that are aimed at adults.

God i love that show.. its so fucked up for a kids show, man. That might of been one of the places i heard the Klatu... line, but i'm sure there have been countless others.

Anyway, i realized i never answered Stogis question before, where my friend is from:

He is mixed, half Egyptian and i'm a horrible friend for forgetting the other half. His father has skin a little darker than mine, but his mother, himself and all his other brothers/sisters/cousins (that i've met) are all very fair skinned but not in a pale and sickly looking way. Both his sisters are beautiful.

I'll have to work on that. I don't have any with them or of them because I normally only see them when i visit their house, we never really go out anywhere. He might have them on his facebook or whatever, but i don't use facebook or myspace or those types of things.

Dammit! Seems like i can't look for him on facebook without creating an account.

He's egyptian and something else?

Egyptian girls can be fucking amazing. Just look at this video by an egyptian singer named Ruby: http://www.metacafe.com/watch/129592/ruby_egyptian_singer/

It's hilarious! I remember the first time I saw it; I couldn't stop watching because I was aroused and confused (dazed and confused?). I was sitting in a hookah bar in Cairo laughing my ass off. Then someone told me she was disowned by her mother because of this video...............then I laughed some more! By arabic standards, this is provactive.

Anyway, watch the whole thing cuz she just gets hotter, especially when they cut away from the actual video and show her in real life.

EDIT:

Dude....I know your not trying to get with your friends sisters cuz I would punch you if you were (somehow), but if you need help spitting game to other arabic women....there is an approach you must take. Unless they are westernized, you need to be careful about how you go about it. Let me know if you want some help.

EDIT EDIT: Just watched the video again...it's great! hahahaha the song isn't bad either.

EDIT EDIT EDIT: Since I'm probably the only one that speaks arabic, she's talking about some dude that's ignoring her. hahahaha

For some reason i get the feeling Stogi wasn't all there when he made this post but.. unless he's travelled abroad without letting us know (and why should he) its not even noon yet!

I'm not trying to get with my friends sister, never would cuz he's like a brother to me (known the dude since pre-k). I have a gf so no, i don't need help picking up arab women either. If anything happens in the future though, i'll let you know!

That Ruby chick, cute face, but not really much of a dancer, is she? I get the feeling there is a bunch of burly guys watching her every move so no one, not even her, gets out of line.

They should of just showed her in real life the whole time because it look like the music video was trying to make her unattractive.
She was so gorgeous just walking around, but "made up" (she actually looked "made down") for the video was wasn't working for her.
And the more she danced, I was wondering.... no wonder her mother disowned her, that is just embarrassing. She dances like a seizing epileptic.

Do the Arabic find that provocative because she is showing her clavicle? maybe because of her shoulders or bellybutton? or is it also because she shows leg above the knees? She is such a beautiful woman, but it was hard to watch her (surprisingly)play her looks down.

sorry I was up really late last night (Chuck marathon), might be in a slightly critical mood from lack of sleep

Oh the dude that told me she was disowned was probably joking...that's how I took it anyway.

I'm not sure why it's provocative. Belly dancers wear less and are paid to shake that ass as quickly and as diligently as possible. It's also custom to throw money on them, or "make it rain" if you will. So I have no idea.

What for real? Just cuz it's conservative doesn't mean you can't stay out late. His family is weird. In Sudan, my cousin and I would go out to get some food around 3 a.m.

Pretty much. I don't think they really have him on that tight of a leash anymore, it's just programmed into his haed not to disobey his parents. For a long time after high school, he'd still get phone calls every hour from his mom if he was just chillen at my place playing some Smash Bros.... and i could always tell it was his mom cuz it was the only time he'd speak arabic lol. Its not like those guys that try to play it off and say its a (needy) girlfriend or whoever. I know its your mom dude! geez

1. Thought you were just always in Chicago.

2. That kinda sucks..? I don't want to sound like i go around disobeying people left and right but in my family, we just weren't brought up that strictly. I wouldn't get slapped for questioning my parents, but they weren't ever too lenient with me either.

Even as a young teen, if i wanted to go out i could, the only rules were "let me know when you're going out/when you think you're coming back" If i couldn't be back when i thought i'd be, it was a simple matter of calling. If i didn't i'd just have my mother nag nag nag the next day, but she nags about everything so it was never a big deal. I couldn't imagine having her call me every hour.. ****.
