Just had a dream set in the future with hover cars, pearl white skyscrapers that were taller than clouds, and several vast courtyards and gardens that protruded from every building taller than five stories. I was working for some high powered technological firm with an 'N' as their logo, as the head developer of the future products division.
Everything was pretty mundane despite playing with holographic images and controlling little robots with my mind. For a while, I was at my lab working at my desk that was made out of clear malleable substance. I could shape it and stretch it to hold more things, and even fold it onto itself to create drawers.
I was working on an idea. Like Homer Simpson in his invention dream, I had no idea what it was. Still, I was controlling the tiny adorable man-like robots to do my bidding as I tried to perfect it. But soon I realize that am I late and rush off with whatever it was.
I arrived late to the meeting room. Everyone looked pissed off or disgruntled, despite how glorious this room was. It was a giant transparent vessel that projected out from the building like a thumb. I could see clouds flow by below my feet. To say the least, it was intense.
It didn't become clear to me what I was working on until I had to explain it to others. I began the meeting and threw down what looked like a lump of clay on the table. People around the room started to mumble with confusion and cynicism. I typed in a command on my wrist computer and displayed a hologram of a cute little animal character. It was a penguin with a stupid looking hat and a silly smile, waddling around the table. I then typed in another command and the mud sprang to life, shaping itself to form the penguin and animating itself after every move. People were beginning to become interested. With a smirk, I typed in another command and a hologram of a lion, now extinct, laid on the table. Another click on my wrist and the mud started to multiply, faster and faster, growing into a large puddle. Finally, it shaped itself into the beast, but this time it looked real. People were amazed as they nervously pet it to find that the hair felt as hair should. Others were astonished that they could feel its heart beat. The lion roared and everyone started cheering.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the mechanical cell; a programmable block that can replicate any carbon life-form."
The excitement in the room was at a fevered pitch with everyone discussing the possible applications, but I somehow ended up back in my office, looking at my tiny man-like robots fighting each other. My secretary, a dark black-skinned chick with teal eyes, hair, and lips, appeared on my desk and notified me of a call. It's from my girlfriend. She popped up on my desk, in a star wars kind of way. She was wondering how the meeting went. I told her it went well to say the least. We talked for a bit, and I tell her we need to go celebrate. She'd love to but her plans changed and she won't be in town tonight, but I should still go out and have fun. I replied, 'alright' in genuine disappointment, but the little robots on my desk were dancing. She looked at them, and then tells me not to doing anything too crazy.
Ready to bounce, I put on my ribbed jacket that tightens around my body and closes automatically and say goodbye to my secretary. She rushed from her desk to try and tell me something but I'm already in the all glass elevator, waving. I turned around to see the sky with several stars punching holes through its violet hue. The elevator sped up and I went into free-fall, dropping below the clouds. My ears popped as a cushion of air returns me to my feet. Exiting the elevator, I received a phone call on my wrist with a number I recognize, but hadn't seen in years. That's when I see my ex in the lobby hangup her phone. Wow, I don't know what she was wearing, but it shimmered like scales on a fish, changing color as she walked towards. Needless to say, she looked amazing.
Even though in real life my ex and I are beyond cool, I became extremely agitated upon seeing her and walked out the door. All I heard was "Stogi! Stogi! Please, just let me say one thing!" She followed me to the parking garage. I swiped my card at a kiosk and after a few moments, the road splits to reveal my car as it pops up, hovering in front of me. She catches up to me. An argument ensues at this point. It centered around how hurt I was because she up and left before going on a trip we planned without even a days notice, only to call me from space telling me that she wouldn't be back for two years. I basically bitched her out but she somehow managed to convince me to take me out to dinner. I looked at my car, a sexy black on black lambo-hummer looking thing. 'Open'. The only door opened to my car, lifting the entire side and top to reveal a couch, a table with fruit and on the far wall, a screen. I hop inside and she does as well. "Where to?" The onboard computer asks in basically the same voice the robot from iRobot had. She says "The Manta Ray". I look at her surprised. I had never been there, but I've heard stories. Not many people are able to go to The Manta Ray as it is easily one the most elegant and exclusive restaurant in the city.
We get there and all the walls and ceiling are just one big aquarium. The blue hue of the water enveloped every fabric, every column, and every statue. It was sick. We walked up to the host and he just greets us with a "Right this way." I looked at her as to say 'What are you planning?' and all she did was smile. We sat down in a secluded part of the restaurant where the floor was part of the aquarium. I was surrounded by lush coral reef and giant manta rays. The only guests next to us were some Spanish looking guy in slick looking fedora sitting next to his hot ass wife smoking what looked like an e-cigarette but much more elegant; they pretty much looked like they came from the 1930's. Next to them was some fat Asian dude with three banging models, all bronze in complexion but with different colored hair; one had silver white hair with strands of glow in the dark pink, the other was sun-blonde brown, and lastly, a collage of blue.
The host asks if we would like anything to drink. My ex ordered something called Spirit Wine. After commenting on the choice, he sat down two glasses, and they filled from the bottom up with what looked like water. He served them to us then said the waiter will be right with us and dipped. Skeptical, I took the glass and I reluctantly cheered. As my lips touched the liquid, what was clear started to turn blood red. I took a sip and it was nothing like I had ever tasted before. It was as if dates, coconuts and olives had a baby. It was so good, God must of pissed into this cup. It was relaxing and awakening all at the same time. My senses were more acute and I felt myself becoming mentally sharper. I immediately took another sip turning the liquid red again, and it only intensified. It was fantastic. I downed it, set my glass back down and it filled once again.
I started to prod her with questions. Mainly, "So what the hell?". She explained how it wasn't her choice, she was forced to go. Little by little, my agitation evaporated and all the drama seemed to melt away. She began to tell me stories about her trip, detailing the wonders and adversities of living on Mars for a year. I couldn't help but find it fascinating, considering what I had just invented. We discussed a possible collaboration between our two lines of work, to which we both agreed it could be incredibly advantageous. Then we kinda paused. We filled up our glasses and I cheered her for real this time and told her it was really good to see her. She then sat closer and came on to me, and I let her in for a bit but soon pushed her back. I reminded her of my gf, but that just made her try even harder, but again I pushed her back. Eventually though, I couldn't resist. She began to kiss me and grab me, telling me how much she missed me. I was like "Where the... ****.... is this waiter?" The models across the way were staring, whispering to each other. I just smiled back at them and lifted my glass as she climbed onto my lap. That's when something caught my eye. My ex's necklace, the pendent looked like it was filled with some sort of blue smoke-like liquid. I stared at it, as she gyrated. My vision began to tunnel and blur; all time seemed to slow down, all sounds seemed to echo. Finally, I couldn't help but touch it. She gasped as the liquid turned a blinding white, then she awkwardly loosened up her grip and left for the bathroom.
WTF.
That's when I woke up.
