Time Crisis 4
« on: March 15, 2009, 01:52:42 AM »
Fridays often mean new games, and yesterday I tried Time Crisis 4 for the PS3. This made me seath with generic rage because ITS A FREAKIN RAIL SHOOTER This was a bit odd with the PS3 controllers and I think that took away from the experience a bit. You know all this time I thought the Time Crisis series would involve time travel.

That being said, they had a story mode that gave you FPS missions that you moved around instead of on rails. They weren't very complex but I thought it was nice of Namco to add some segments where you controlled the character's feet. If EA or Capcom decide to add some movement levels to their upcoming Wii rail shooters, I may have to upgrade them from a "rent" to a "buy cheap used".

You didn't realize that Time Crisis was an arcade shooter? It's been around, and quite prominently, for quite some time now.

I'm surprised you didn't play any of the time crisis games in the arcades or on PS/PS2/PS3 the series is quite old. I always get a kick out of the fact that the guncon 3 is pretty much they same technology of the Wii remote IR sensor and the game retailed for 90 dollars.

I think ShyGuy might have been joking, but its true. Time Crisis is and always will be an on-rails shooter. Been a staple of the arcades for years now.

Isn't it ironic that Time Crisis 4 went to a console that is not known for on rails shooters?

The last time I played Time Crisis in the arcade was quite fun. I think that it was the third installment. Two separate cabinets hooked up together, allowing the players to actually see each other in game as you entered into crossfire situations. Nice.

I know Time Crisis was in the arcades. But I only played one of the games like once. I thought the opening was set in the future and I would be shooting dinosaurs in the next level or something.

It did have an FPS level too.

Time Crisis 2 is the pinnacle of the series for me. 3 is a worthy sequel, however 4 just loses the plot. Boring helicopter sequence to nowhere. Poorly balanced siege modes that require a second player. Gimmicky sub bosses made of insects. The games just wasn't fun.

Semantics protip: the title comes from the time limit + ticking time bomb theme. The first one had a single, cumulative time limit, but they dropped that for the sequels (putting a time limit on each small segment).

Ask me about one-credit finishes

Time Crisis 4 is not as good as Time Crisis 1-3. Or Crisis Zone.
