ESRB leaks another game again

FINAL FANTASY IV: The After Years

Platform: Wii

Rating: Everyone

Content descriptors: Alcohol Reference, Mild Fantasy Violence

Rating summary: This is a 2D role-playing game in which players embark on an adventure involving magical crystals and a mysterious kingdom. Players traverse across a field map or through dungeons and can enter into turn-based battles along the way. Players use a menu screen to select attacks or magic spells against tiny enemies (e.g., leopards, birds, knights, fish monsters, etc.) that blink and disappear when defeated. An item called "Bacchus Wine" is occasionally used to defeat enemies in battle.

Final Fantasy IV: The After Years features Cecil, Rosa, and the entire cast of Final Fantasy IV years in the future. The story begins with their son Ceodore and introduces new characters like a brigade of ninjas under the command of Edge who is now the King of Eblan.

The little summary makes me giggle especially the bit about Bacchus Wine. Also the ESRB only shows that it's a Wii exclusive, since this is a cellphone game in Japan I wonder if this will be a retail of all the cellphone episodes or if it's a Wiiware game with downloadable episodes but I have a feeling it will be the latter.

Knowing Square it will be a downloadable episode affair on Wii. Despite that its great that the Wii is getting this and hopefully other celphone projects (like the two Kingdom Hearts games) are moved over to the Wii.

I understand now. Thanks.

Yeah I could have.

Anyway. So this game takes place after FF4. I wonder what happened after Final Fantasy 4?

LOL

~~~~~
After FF4 came FF5, on a real next-gen system with greater processing power, steroidal protagonist, and half the gameplay time.
This has been out on JPN phones for a while, and I've always heard good things about it.  It's supposed to play almost exactly like FF4, and the story was written by the same guy who did FF4.  For $10 on WiiWare, it should be absolutely perfect.
I think the worst sequel Square has pumped out is "Advent Children".
I know many would say FFX-2 is the worst considering the tone and fan service (I agree they could have been tone down), but the gameplay was great, I really liked the job system and the story was a great change of pace from all the melodrama seen in X.
"Advent Children" was a glorified fan fic. You have these new villains who barely try to be menacing, fantastical battles and Cloud still being emo and mourning over the same girl two years after the events in the first game.
It was a virtual stunner, that's for sure. But the story was terrible.
Star Ocean Till the End of Time is my pick for worst Square Enix sequel. Worst plot twist ever.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to this, kind of. I'm terribly backlogged on games.
Would that really be all that much worse than Square's normal writing...?
I enjoyed the prequel, can't say much about the earlier sequel though.
You know what I find funny? A KH fan was ranting about how the new KH game features a character that is a big Mary Sue, yet KH 2 was riddled with moments that seemed straight out of a crazy fanfic.
I mean, Goofy "dying" because of a rock, causing Mickey to get angry? And Sora pretty much ignores Kairi when they first meet after YEARS of not seeing each other, but gets melodramatic when he sees Riku (I understand that the two have been longer friends than Kairi, but still...).
And once more, Advent Children...and even FFX-2.
The Subspace Emissary was basically Sakurai's Smash Bros. fanfic to the world.
And MGS4 was Hideo Kojima's fan fic for...god knows what it was for.
Any games with more cutscenes then gameplay should be considered fanficton.
Sakurai's is an exception because Shiggy wouldn't let him make a fanfic for our purple purse, so he made one for our two Gamecubes tied together (C WAT I DID THR?). Doesn't help that he had the writer for Kingdom Hearts help him write the story.
