Rather than having some small threads scattered why not have one centralized thread just like how bill made a Famitsu thread.

Now heres the big one Klonoa confirmed in NA!

More Klonoa info

KLONOA- extras for Wii
choose to have longer life bar
some stages flattened out so easier to navigate
increase speed at which klonoa runs, length of his shot, adjust hit range of enemies, tweaked floating jump
extra costumes for klonoa, character model viewer, music player, mirror versions of all stages in game. Mirror mode has bonus areas with time-attack challenges-intended for hardcore fans. Also plans for K2 and beyond depend on this remake's recception, so its up to you NA WII owners.

Great idea! I made a thread about NP but is was about if anybody had a subscription.Speaking of that it seems my subscription didn't make it to my new place. I have to speak to NP about that.

As to this news... Great that Klonoa is coming to NA.
Any new info on Arc Rise Fantasia and Muramasa The Demon Blade?

I haven't either Kairon.Yes it is a platformer.From my understanding you are this rabbit that uses his floppy ears to traverse from place to place.You defeat enemys by throwing other enemys at other enemies. I'm sure there is more. Maybe someone can explain it better.

Klonoa Road to Phantomile is a 2d platform so even better! It's originally a PSone game but they overhauled the graphics, this time you can control it with Wii remote on its side, Classic or Cube controller.

Sonic Info I will put spoiler tags in them for people who don't want to be spoiled

 Knuckles, Shadow and Blaze are bosses in the game, they are part of a round table, once you beat them they become your friend. Looks like they are playable as well, though this is optional. each environment has about 6 to 9 missions. looks like there is 3 fighting styles to choose from. Cavalier style = speed. Paladin style = Strength or Knight Style = a balance of both. you can get new skills, like in Secret rings.

From the preview
- Like in SR, you get a gauge-based move called the Soul Surge, which is used by holding B and then shaking the Wiimote, which has Sonic unleash *shot* a "series of deadly lock-on strikes or a blinding turbo boost that can get the hedgehog out of almost any dangerous situation".

- Some of the skills you can acquire are carried over from SR, none are specifically mentioned though. Two new ones include the Paladin's shield-breaking ability, and the Cavalier's wall-climbing Splash Jump.

- With the ability to customize your character, you can add offensive and defensive effects, such as immunity from elemental status ailments.

- Yes, the tracks in the Molten Mine are of minecarts, in case people were still thinking they were train tracks...

- YOU CAN CUT THE GRASS IN THE TITANIC PLAIN!!!

- Seems that you won't be able to visit some stages until subsequent play through

- Tails is stupidly called a mutant squirrel

- In multiplayer, you do have the option of fighting against the CPU!

- They mention a March release.

- Sonic's in the middle of a chilli-dog feast when he's being summoned into the book!

I want to support Klonoa, but again, it depends on the price. I wouldn't even pay $50 for Wario Land: Shake It and that was a brand new game. I did pay the Square Enix tax (all the credit in world to bosshogx for coining the phrase) on The World Ends With You and Chrono Trigger so maybe I've lost my right to complain about MSRP. Outside of games I just flat out want and don't mind paying full price for (Zelda, Mario etc.), I try to support games that desperately need supporting. I bought Odin Sphere and I'm buying Muramasa. Madworld is another one. All $50 and I pay it gladly.

I want to support Klonoa and by extension, the 2D genre, but I'd also be enabling publishers to push ports/remakes over brand new games. It's a strange dynamic, especially on the Wii where 3rd party support is getting better, but is no where near where it needs to be.

I definitely understand the dilemma Adrock. With so many games coming down the pipe, I definitely want more games than I can afford. If a game can come out at cheaper than $50, that's a definite boon for me.

However, personally I'm not concerned that Klonoa is a port at this point. I've NEVER played a Klonoa game despite hearing many talk of the franchise. In fact, is this the first time a Klonoa game is available to me as a Nintendo only gamer?

They released a couple GBA spin-offs. So yeah, I guess this is officially the first time a main series entry is available to you.

I don't think I've ever played a Klonoa game before, but that doesn't change the fact that Door to Phantomile is still a remake of an 11 year old game. Maybe if this was $20, I'd consider buying it. However, from what I understand, this is mostly a graphical update with very little added to the original.

I don't think I've ever played a Klonoa game before, but that doesn't change the fact that Door to Phantomile is still a remake of an 11 year old game. Maybe if this was $20, I'd consider buying it. I personally have no issue with it. Klonoa is a very obscure franchise, especially in the US and there's a good chance that a lot of people missed the first game the fact that Namco re-released it as a Wii game was a good move. Its not like Resident Evil where were are expected to play through the game a fifth or sixth time. So don't be that offended with it.

Apparently, not obscure enough. There are 7 Klonoa games, 4 of which have been released in NA.

And I wouldn't say I'm offended. I'm just not willing to spend full price for it. Unlike Chrono Trigger, I have no history with Klonoa and I'm not itching for a sequel. I have no reason to support the game other than the fact that I like 2D platformers.... but I also happen to like wise spending and new games. That said, I'd rather Namco go through the trouble of developing a brand new Klonoa. A sequel is an easier sell to me.

My point was that if you've never played the original then a remake would be indistinguishable from a sequel.  Afaik the original didn't sell a whole lot in the US (to the extent that Namco thought it might be a good idea to "Americanize" his design, apparently), so there are likely to be many others in the same situation as well.

Also, they did completely overhaul the graphics, which is more than a lot of the other lazy ports have done. :b

Well in the opening week in Japan Klonoa for Wii sold 1,700 :(. So I guess if we want Klonoa 2 remade it better do a hell of a lot better.

And my point is that the game isn't worth $50 and it wasn't worth $50 11 years ago. Additionally, I don't want to enable publishers who think Wii owners are happy accepting ports and remakes over new IPs or sequels. There are ports/remakes publishers release because people want them and ports/remakes publishers release strictly because its cheaper than making a new game. Was there a demand for a Klonoa remake? The original Klonoa may not have sold a whole lot in the US, but it seemingly sold well enough for Namco to release 3 additional Klonoa titles here. So, why a remake now? Why does PS2 getting a sequel and Wii a remake? Seems a bit unfair. On top of that, Namco's support for Wii has been spotty at best.

Yeah... hmm... *scratches head*... it sure is a pickle. I think that, in truth, a $50 price point would be a lot for the marketplace to swallow. Okami was a hardcore darling, but plenty balked at its $40 price. RE4Wii's $30 for a port seems to be a sweet spot for ports, improved or not, especially with light gun games.

Future Wii ports that are going to see this same price pressure are Rygar: Wii, Broken Sword: Director's Cut, and Nintendo's own Play it on Wii GameCube ports. I'm sure that there's plenty of desire to see a $40 price point from the publishers and retailers side, but I'm not sure if that price points appeal has borne out.

- Duel-screen boss fights with multiple attack points, some more vulnerable than others.

- You are Kyrie who's just out trying to find Mushrooms for his uncle. He's then summoned to the Feral mayor's house, placed under arrest, and then a power inside him wells up and melts all the bad guys.
- Travel the sand covered world on sand ships. Fight sand whales. Team up with a Feral who looks like a cuddly Teddby Bear, but is actually a veteran bounty hunter who would kill anyone for the right price.
- Learning catch-phrases gives you status boosts.
- Fully voiced cut-scenes. 50 tracks from Procyon Studio with 20 by Mitsuda himself.

* Dragon Quest V

- "What luck! The crown jewel of the Dragon Quest series is finally coming to Western shores."
- "[Dragon Quest V] quickly became Horii's favorite game in the series, and it holds that distinction still. Too bad Horii's enthusiasm didn't rub off on his coworkers at Enix America, who decided to stop localizing Dragon Quest jsut as the series hit its creative peak."
- "Hand of the Heavenly Bride begins with the hero as a young boy ... But the hero's happy childhood cannot last forever, and his path to adulthood will be marked with both triumphs and tragedies."

(The article was written by Casey Loe, and I think that's a fine piece of writing right there.)
- There is a monster catching aspect (60+ in this version of DQV) that the article says was part of the inspiration for Pokemon. (probably DQMonsters, too ;) ) After capture, they fight for you as regular party members. They have level caps, though, so they'll have to be rotated out for later captured monsters.
- Uses DQIV engine, but uses more color to diversify the towns.
- "The battles remain fast-paced and richly animated, with weapons that can hit entire groups (or the entire battlefield) adding a bit of spice to the otherwise-straightforward, hammer-on-the-attach-button battle system that has long been the series' trademark (Expect that to change a bit in the upcoming remake of the more tactical Dragon Quest VI)"

* Arc Rise Fantasia

- "Now that publishers have had time to feel out what does and doesn't work on Wii, Mizutani (Marvelous Producer) and producer Ryoie Mikage of ImageEpoch expect to see the dearth of Wii RPGs come to an end."
- Part of the Tales of Symphonia team (game designer, CG director, scenario writer, and main battle programmer - among others) are working on the game. They say it feels like a Tales game, as a result.
- You see the enemies on the field, so no random battles.
- "Instead of the Tales series' frantic real-time battling, Arc Rise Fantasia uses an original turn-based system with a dash of strategy-RPG flavor. In our early version of the game, the battle system is a clear highlight,"
- Battles load quickly. "The trio has a set number of ability points to spend each turn, and you can distribute them however you like - by having your best fighter attack three times, for example, or by having each member attack once."
- The main story will be around 30 hours plus optional side quests.
- The game doesn't use IR or waggle, but some of the optional casino mini-games will.
- They say it's nice to hear Mitsuda working on a disk-based platform again.
- "As proud as the developers are of Arc Rise Fantasia's battle system, soundtrack, and character designs, both men go straight for the storyline when asked to name the team's primary focus. ... The game features a huge supporting cast, dozens of plot threads, and a worldview built around numerous intersections between divinity and technology."

* Mario & Luigi RPG 3

- Mario are Luigi are inside Bowser. They can affect Bowser's actions by their work within him. Control Mario and Luigi with A, B, and Bowser with X, Y.
- Ailment sweeping the land causing citizens to balloon in size, so Bowser swallows Mario and Luigi. Hmm, makes sense.
- When playing as Bowser, you can even activate a touch-screen attack to use Goombas against your foes.

* Avalon Code

- The code of items/enemies can be changed, resulting in changes such as dropping all Goblins HP from 500 to 200 to 50.
- Turn normal items into highly powerful items by changing their codes using secret recipes.
- Dungeons are eschewed in favor of time trials (e.g. solving simple puzzles or fighting through waves of enemies.)
- "Power-ups are rarely found; they're most often earned for juggling foes so high that they actually leave the planet's atmosphere."
- Romantic subplots, fortune-telling, boss battles consistenting of most of your time being spent rewriting the boss's code to make them weaker.
- Coming in February from XSEED and Marvelous USA.
