I don't know, but for two weeks in August everyone pronounced Beijing differently, so I think they're just making it up as they go along.

Also, I think the slang for Peking Duck is Chow Yun Quack, but check with a more reliable source before you use it in a restaurant or something.

Answer that, i've heard it too many different ways (even from people serving it!) to know whats even close to the proper pronunciation.
