I just had the Wii registry and regular bonus ones. I already reached the platinum status for the year, but oh well, the extra 40 coins put me at 1,200 exactly.

This doesn't impact us at the moment, but in Japan Club Nintendo is putting the Mario Galaxy 2 OST up on the store for 500 points (300 for people who registered Galaxy 2).  Given that this is a item that can regularly be purchased and not a Platinum Reward like its predecessor's OST, maybe this is a sign we could get this in the NoA Club Nintendo store?  One can hope...

Incidentally, what's roughly the exchange rate on JP Points and US Coins?  If this did cross over, I'm curious what it would cost (I have a feeling around 800 coins).

I'm not sure there is a good conversion. Japan has this system where the amount of points you can get for registering a game decreases over time (so you get more points if you register it the same week it comes out compared to 6 months after it comes out), in other regions you get the same amount of coins regardless of how long it has been out (not counting bonus coins for early registration).

I downloaded the first OST and loved it, so I hope Nintendo puts it up in other regions too.

I know they send something to Gold and platinum status, any idea what it'll be this year, and is it worth getting to platinum? I'm 40coins shy of doing so.

I just purchased a Black Wii bundled with wii sports resort, I gave my old Wii to my best friend, and she loves it.

Also while on topic, will Nintendo transfer my games from my old wii to my new wii? Wiiware/VC?

As I would like to if possible.

I take it you are talking about the VC and Wiiware games. I think that those games are tied to the console you got them on. If you are talking about Wii game saves than I think those are transferable.

As far as Platinum status I think that it would be a good idea to get that rank.

Cool, so I couldn't get Nintendo to transfer my wiiware/vc games? I know they can do it if your wii was damaged or stolen.

Yeah I seem to recall that if you send in your Wii and it is not working properly there is a chance to get them transfered.

That's the plan, though - that you'll repurchase the games on the next console like a good little fanboy.

I am hoping Nintendo isn't thinking what you think they are. I hope they set up some kind of program (maybe do something like require you to link you current system online and have them disable it o your current system before they let you re-download it on your new one).

As for the first part of the question, this is a good topic to discuss in the existing Club Nintendo thread. I would like them to offer the full Super Mario Galaxy 2 soundtrack like they did with the first game in Japan, not this crap they did with The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (which only had like six songs on the disc).

You would have to call Nintendo up maybe a couple of times. Once they say yes, Nintendo will probably say to send in both consoles to them to do the transfer.

I don't think we'll know what they will send until they send out the emails at the end of the Club Nintendo year on June 31st. I believe that was the case for last year.

My guess? For Platinum members, a choice between Super Mario Galaxy soundtrack and golden Wii Wheel, and another calendar for Gold members.

Couldn't they do it electronically? Do they have to gut the wii to transfer them, I would think it would be abit more easier than that.

Yeah, I hope they send something better than that as well, here's crossing my fingers.

Your Shop Channel Account is tied to your Wii Console Number, and all of that information is stored on the system itself. There's no real way to transfer something like that over the Internet.

There is an unauthorized method of copying your system's entire internal memory and loading it onto another system, but I'm not sure how well it works. If both systems connected to the Shop Channel at the same time... well, I'm not sure what would happen, but it'd likely be bad.

I know they send something to Gold and platinum status, any idea what it'll be this year, and is it worth getting to platinum? I'm 40coins shy of doing so.

Did you like either of last year's prizes?  I wouldn't expect this year's to be any better, so if you weren't interested in a "free" WiiWare game or a useless (but fun) trinket then it's probably not worth it unless you have something you already were planning to buy.

By and by, have you bought/registered SMG2 yet?  There's 50+ coins right there.

You could also buy Glory of Heracles for essentially $1 from Amazon.  That's worth 30 coins.  Even if you have no interest in the game, you can probably sell it used and turn a small profit.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Last year's prizes weren't that bad. I wish I had picked the Mario hat, but even Doc Louis's Punch-Out was OK.

Yeah, I've registered Mario Galaxy 2, I was thinking of getting Sin & Punishment 2, would that count for coins? I'm assuming so, being published by Nintendo, right?

You could always just buy 4 VC or WiiWare games, which would give you the 40 coins you need.  Sin & Punishment 2 works as well, so long as it was a game you were going to buy close to launch anyway,

Even better - DSiWare.  $8 will net you some bad games and 40 coins. ;)

Or go buy Glory of Hercules for -$4 from Amazon.com. ;)

Planning on doing just that Shaymin :) I've always wanted the original for 64 but sadly it never came over until the VC, does the sequel live to the originals hype?

I love treasure games, especially ones they did for Sega Genesis and Saturn, plus that one for the 64 which the name escapes me, I know it stars a female
robot with bunny like ears..? and she shakes things, can't recall the name.
