I haven't actually played the game (yet), but I just watched a video for it on the Nintendo Channel on my Wii, and one of the first things that sprung to my mind when I watched the computer animated video set inside a haunted mansion with ghosts was how similar it was to Luigi's Mansion.

And I'm not saying that's a bad thing or anything, because Luigi's mansion was a cool game and a great thing to emulate. But am I right? Since I've never played the game I'm not sure if the game is anything like that video or not, but the video sure reminded me of it.  And another thing it reminded me a little bit of was Caspar the friendly ghost. :P

Anyone else see what I mean?

Luigi's Mansion should not be compared to the Warehog.

No Nintendo game(s) should EVER be compared to Sonic Team games. Even if said Sonic Team products are sometimes half decent CGI short films that are not games at all. :P

Actually, I think the Werehog was inspired by Wolf Link in "Twilight Princess".

I was just applying it to Sonic Team games. AV, Overworks, Hitmaker and the AM groups don't count. (because they aren't ass-whipped by Sega.)

F-Zero was done by Amusement Vision (Daytona team, Monkey Ball franchise), so Sonic Team is still in the gutter.

There's no saving them =D

I never played Luigi's Mansion for some reason. After launch it seemed to disappear from the collective conscience of Nintendo gamers. Is it worth tracking down?

Also, Nintendo should buy out Amusement Vision and put them to work only making F-Zero games.

Nintendo gamers got fed up with LM cuz it was basically 1.5 Zelda dungeons worth of gameplay sold at the full $50 price.  Despite being a game that utilized/taught dual-analog controls, Nintendo didn't bother capitalizing on the shooter market that gen.

We'll mention it just to hate on it.

2nd in favor of F-Zero.

I thought Luigi's Mansion was fun.  :'(

Third for another F-Zero, Amusement Vision or otherwise. Another Super Monkey Ball wouldn't hurt either.

Yes, Luigi's Mansion was a terribly underrated titled marred by demanding gamers and limited replay value.

I admit I used to think the game was disappointing. But after playing it again a few years back I thought the game was full of charm, great music, controls and graphics. It was a Ghostbusters game without the Ghostbuster franchise and gave Luigi a lot of character.

I would love to play a Wiimake of it, or see a Wii sequel. This time place Luigi in a big, Transylvania type town so that there's more places to explore and new monsters to discover.

Might as well call Luigi "Luigi Belmont with a vacuum".

Luigi's Mansion is just lacking in perceived value.  I rented it for a four day rental and 100%ed the game in two days.  And I suck at games.  I RENTED the game and felt ripped off because I could have paid less for a two or three day rental.

The actual game is pretty fun though.  I enjoyed it, it's just that once I beat it there was nothing to do.  And yet this is supposed to be the big Gamecube launch game.  The game that competes with HALO.  Nintendo is supposed to make this big comeback with the Cube and the game that gets the most promotion is this no-challenge must-rent.  If Nintendo gave the promotional effort they gave this game to say Pikmin instead, maybe THAT would be a big Nintendo franchise.  If they focused their promotional effort on Rogue Leader maybe that would have sold some Gamecubes.  I could make a big list of why Nintendo inadvertingly sabotaged the Cube and Luigi's Mansion would be near the top of the list.  It's really just the worse possible game they could have released at that time.  It's not a horrible game but it's a perfect representation of just how clueless and out to lunch Nintendo was at the time.

Though if you like collecting games and can pick it up used for less than 10 bucks you'll probably enjoy it.  It is fun, it just has no legs to it.

Regarding Sonic, I figure these days Sonic Team just throws darts at a collection of generic ideas when they decide to make a new game.  This time "spooky Sonic" was picked.  It isn't like Luigi's Mansion's concept is super creative or anything.  The setting of a haunted house is cliche as all hell.

I must suck worse at games than you do, because the game took me longer than 2 days to beat. Granted, I probably only spent a couple hours a day on it, but still...

And if you beat the game, you could play again in the new mansion or try to max out your score.

I actually do suck at games and it took me much longer than two game to beat it, let alone do all you can do in it.
