- Treasure is developing S&P 2, right?  I haven't seen this outright confirmed.

I was coming in here to ask the exact same question.

Yes, they are... :cool;

Vega they didn't talk about it but there is lots of info already.
I am going to put all of the live blogs so everybody can see what happened.

I'm talking about a FIRM US release date, I know about the game. I haven't seen anything about it coming to the US yet. It is coming to Europe this month, already out in Japan I don't see why no release date for America yet.

First glimpse of the main character(?) in the next Tales game...

He looks a lot like Suzaku from Code Geass...

I was all excited about this but now I hear that THIS is the Pikmin game that I've been looking forward to and not I'm honestly a bit bummed about that.

No, I haven't read that confirmation anywhere.  It'll make me happy if they re-release pikmin 2, though.

I have a sneaking suspicion these will be new codes that only come with new games and we'll all have to start from scratch.
That's how it worked in Australia, but that was the first time we were able to register games in any way as well.

I wouldnt mind a pikmin 2 re-release with wii controls (since i only recently enjoyed Pikmin 1 and never played 2) but it would be a bummer if a 2nd sequel wasnt coming out.

Speaking of the cube re-releases (wiimakes), how does everyone feel about them?

The Metroid Prime 'wiimakes' have me conflicted. On one hand i'd love to experience the games with wii's control but on the other hand i wouldnt want to pay full price for games i've played before. If they re-released 1 and 2 as a set (not sure if it could be on 1 disc..) for $40 that'd be ideal and i might consider picking them up once more but still.. i'm just not sure if its really worth it, ya know?

I have both metroid prime and MP2. I would buy it on the Wii preferably on 1 disc for 40 to 50 dollars.I am OK with the Wiimake of Cube games.

I'm over the moon at the Chibi Robo re-release because I could never get the original anywhere, wasn't released here and the game cost a million dollars to import from Europe.

Man Reggie does come off as a jerk in the beginning of that interview...

"Are you worried people won't buy a DS Lite because they will wait for the DSi?"

"Well how long do they want to wait, we are launching it for like ever!  We don't think you can hold out that long!"

Obviously that's not a direct quote, but still.  I kind of wish he could have been a stand-up guy and said something like...

"For those fans that want the features of the DSi, we are fine with them waiting for the latest technology, but we think there is a large segment of our audience that will get all they need out of the DS Lite."

Chibi Robo would be worth a rerelease. That game was a ninja-hit in that you NEVER saw it coming until you were neck-deep in awesome.

And as for the subject, games in dire need of a rerelease on Wii:

Eternal Darkness: Didn't get even a fraction of the attention it deserved on the GC.

MGS: Twin Snakes: Considering his inclusion in Brawl, Snake may as well have a game on the Wii.

Geist: Yet another game that didn't get the attention it deserved.

What about Odama?

Some info from Cammie Dunaway

“Well, it’s just that we roll out things at different times and so we chose to talk about some of the ones that we are committed to rolling out in 2009, but there is some other stuff that we’re still taking a look at…As I said, we’ve just selected ones that we’ve already made commitments to. We weren’t trying to show our full lineup for the first part of 2009.”- Referring to Disaster: Day of Crisis in North America

“No details yet. Actually, I’m kind of interested to see all the buzz that’ll probably be out there about what kind of prices we should be offering [laughs]. Hopefully that gives me some good ideas…you will be able to bring over some of the points, but we’re still figuring out how it’s going to work. It’s not necessarily going to be all of them.” - On Club Nintendo

“It’s not the Pikmin that Mr. Miyamoto referred to, no. Mr. Miyamoto referred to a new Pikmin, as opposed to the classics that are being rereleased on Wii.” - Referring to a new Pikmin (the re-releases were not what Miyamoto was referring to back at E3, so yes, there is a new Pikmin on the way)

“We don’t know the timing yet, but as Reggie said, it’s going to enable a much more seamless use of the SD card, which is pretty bulky and complicated today. And you’ll be able to save from the Virtual Console straight to the SD card. So we’re excited to hear it.” - On the Wii storage solution

“Our strategy is always to find a variety of games that appeal to a variety of types of players. To utilize what’s working well in Japan and to work with second-parties here to develop new franchises that may be unique to the U.S. And to keep working with third-parties. We wanted to highlight primarily the things that are coming for this holiday season because we wanted to make sure we’re getting the word out about our holiday titles. But we also wanted to give a peek at some of the things that are coming in 2009. Our peek is by no means meant to be an exhaustive list.” - On the software lineup, games shown in Japan

“I know, it is kind of quiet down there. No, no news to announce right now. They’re always working hard. Yeah, they are working hard, I’ll tell you that.” - Referring to Retro Studios

In regards to these GC rereleases I think it's a good idea for those that did not have the opportunity to play them, but for me I'm a bit undecided about them. I loved them on the GC, yet the prospect of some of these games running in widescreen is definitely a characteristic that entices me to see these worlds with a wider view.

GC discs could hold 1.5gb and Wii discs can hold 4.7gb and more with dual layering. So surely that'd mean they could get MP1 and MP2 on one disc. I doubt Nintendo would do that though.

The best remake for me would be Chibi Robo as I have pretty much everything else I could have wanted from the GC era.

Whoa what, another conference? Awesome!

There's absolutely no way i'd ever buy one of those wiimakes if I own the original. It's the same game, they are just being released on the Wii system. I think it's great they're being released but they are aimed at people new to Nintendo.
