Dilema over Games
« on: April 05, 2003, 02:08:44 PM »
I'm at Sort of a Dilema here on what game to get.  While some may say this is a pole, I guess it could be considered that.  But I'm more looking for some constructive information about the two games, maybe some opinions, which while hopefully lead me to selecting the best game.

I just bought Yugi-Oh Eternal Duelist Soul Last week because my brother had it too and he liked it a lot.  So I tried it out and got hooked.  I found out that Yugi-Oh Stairway to Destined Duel World Wide edition is coming out next week or so, and I am hesitant over If I should get it.  I know the people will say "Umm Dude! We haven't played it either how could we know?!"  But I know virtually nothing about this game, so any information on it would be greatly appreciated it.

Also, One of my friends from school recently picked up a copy of Pokemon: Saphire.  At first, I will admit I was a little reluctant.  I used to play Red and Blue, but I kind of got pissed at the newer versions cause i felt they were part of some milking of the franchise, which I don't find cool at all::cough cough Final Fantasy 7+ cough:: ((sorry had to let that out, keep in mind i leave an exception for Crycstal Chronicle cause its not the stale FF)).  Anyways back to my story.  I have a link cable so I could play my brother in Eternal Duelist, but I could also use that to play with my friend from school If I were to pick up Ruby, and perhaps complete everything in the game, If I couldnt get all the Pokemon I doubt I would get it.  So again, I have not been following this game at all, and I know virtually nothing about it.  Can you transfer information from Red/Blue to the Ruby/Saphire?  My friend said it seemed like there wasnt enough room in the game to get the original ones, i.e. Charmander, like there were not enough areas.  How can you get them if you can't transfer?

**By the way, Nintendo systems are known as "uncool" in my school, but that is definately starting to change thanks to Wind Waker and SP, God I Love Nintendo**

well, i know next to nothing about YuGiOh! so cant help you there, but pokemon i can, having just picked up a copy of Ruby and clocked a pitaful 9 hours (metroid prime is taking my attention away) i can say that its a brilliant game, feels fresh and new and fun! things i didn't really find in Silver, no you cant trade with red/blue/gold/silver/yellow/crystal BUT a gamecube game is coming out that you will be able to unlock all the "missing" pokemon. if you found red/blue even the slightest bit interesting i would suggest you give Ruby/Saphire a hearty try, they have fully rekindled my waining interest in pokemon! also, Kanto and Johto arn't accessable in Ruby/Saphire only Honen is BUT dont let this disenheart you, they are stunning games (well saphire might be horrible only played ruby)

From what i have heard, all of the 350+ Pokemon have been put into the game, but not all of them can be caught, and you can only trade with people who have Ruby or Sapphire.  There may be some way to catch all of them with the e-reader or upcoming gamecube game.

If you just bought a Yu-Gi-Oh game then don't bother getting another one so soon.  I'd go with Pokemon.  That game is just amazing and is my favourite GBA game.

Odds are Stairway to Destined Duel World Wide edition is more or less a rehash of the other Yu-Gi-Oh game.  Maybe you should wait until reviews start coming in for the new Yu-Gi-Oh game and see if it's worth owning for someone who already owns Eternal Duelist Soul (God these are dumb names).

If you think that name is bad, the new PS YuGiOh game is called Duel of the Roses (or something like that) in reference to the War of the Roses.  I'm sorry, these guys who come up with the game titles must be working themselves too hard to come up with names.  With Pokemon, you just have stones and colors.  Simplistic and practical.
