Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

it wasn't so much that i was expecting like megatons at e3, its that i was expecting a mediocre show and got a sub-mediocre show.

Like animal crossing was the biggest game they had during e3, but it really looked pretty much like the same game, i would wish to see a totally overhauled animal crossing game

True that games announced by Nintendo were low.  However, 3rd party games for Nintendo that kick ass through out the show were present and I am excited for them.

Hopefully, and I am speculating here, but I expect Nintendo to do a private press conference/ media event like 3-4 weeks after E3 announcing their bigger games.  This will allow those games to be played by the media properly without Xbox 360 or PS3's big games to overshadow them.  And yes I expect that one of those games WILL be a big core audience game for this holiday season.

Remember there were quite a few games we were expecting that just didn't happen...does that mean they aren't being worked on.  NO, as it was pointed out...Nintendo announced Pikmin at E3...just did not show it.  So there are still secrets and games being developed.

Actually it'll be in September or October.  In 2006 Nintendo had a private conference in September to show off everything that would be released for the Wii's launch that year.  Then in 2007 they had one in early October were they announced the release dates for the rest of their fall titles.  Plus this was the conference were Sonic was revealed to be in Smash Bros.

So yes Nintendo WILL have a big conference later this year and it'll contain several core gamer games in it as well.  And from all the rumors that have been going around it's pretty much a guarantee that Kid Icarus will be shown then.

Yeah, E3 sucked. But ditch Nintendo all together? If I enjoyed wasting money that much I might as well give the rest of my savings to charity and live off the land like my ancestors did in the days of yore.

They're just videogames. Calm the Christ down for sobbing out loud.

Nintendo and I broke up, she said she wanted to see other people, uh casuals, I think. Wasn't into this hardcore relationship that we had; especially when she could give cheap, quick thrills to more people. She wants to put as many smiles on as many people's faces as she can with her entertainments.

It would be hillarious if the day after you Benedict Arnold's sell your Wiis, Nintendo announces kickass new franchises like Super Hardcore Bros. and The Legend of Ass Kicking, all of them rated M for Mature and exclusive only to the Wii.

Yeah, even if E3 made you consider ditching the Wii, wouldn't Famitsu revive them after the Dead Rising Wii news?

If something as unimportant as the new E3 had made you ditch Nintendo I'd find it unlikely that the announcement of a 2(?) year old game (that you can get on a rival platform) would be enough to bring you back. If you'd had enough of the big N and wanted Dead Rising, buy a 360.

Well, in the case of someone who can only afford to own one console, it's a big announcement.

It also goes to show that you shouldn't expect all your gaming news from E3. E3's still there, it's still big, but it's no longer the be all and end all of game announcements.

Yep definitely, although I think if someone were to ditch Nintendo they would free up enough cash to at least have a crack at a 360.

They can't have old style E3s anymore, because the last time they did the conference came under attack by Giant Sony crabs and only Reggie could save the day. If Reggie hadn't been there... well, I shudder to think what those Crabs may have done.

They just can't take those sorts of risks anymore, so things have been scaled back, and giant man-eating crustaceans have to be kept under lock and key now.

I don't think it's coming back. Capcom would rather talk about the Lost Planet Movie for 30 minutes instead of showing off Dead Rising Wii.

I came to the conclusion that Nintendo doesn't really care about the hardcore YEARS ago.  I came to that conclusion on the DS.  They assume we'll always be on board but eventually they'll take too far and lose us for good.  There's always a breaking point.

If this is IT for the year yeah I would consider ditching Nintendo, or at least not pay as much attention to them until some must buy game suddenly appeared in stores.  But I'll still give them to the end of the year.  If Animal Crossing and Warioland are their core gamer titles for this Christmas they'll be worrying about losing more than just me anyway.  I'm not optimistic that suddenly some big game is going to be revealed but they still have five more months.  Just as long as I have something to put on my Christmas list.

Well Ian as a counter to your statement every company is caring more about the "casual" market, Sony with Buzz and Singstar , MS showing off more Scene it, a crappy game that makes you apart of a B or C movie made by codemasters, Lips with iNis who usually makes "hardcore" music games is making a karaoke game which is considered to be "casual". And we obviously know about Nintendo's Wii ____ games. And finally the emphasis of Guitar Hero and Rock Band. Guitar Hero ever since Activision took it over they are whoring that series till there's no tomorrow such as 2 console games on the pipeline and already making a sequel to the DS version that just recently came out. And Rock Band is just improving on its predecessor and keeping the "music platform" alive by allowing the DLC to be shared by both games. And Nintendo is doing something different with Wii music. And insert the countless karaoke style games made by a hand full of platforms.

The problem I have with how publishers handle their music games they are the new "Madden" or in Activision's case an accelerated sequel-itis mentality to a level that's beyond whoring out a series.

I personally like how Nintendo for once is stepping back a little and giving their main teams to make a proper mario, zelda and Pikmin these games don't just sprout out every 9 months you know. And with Nintendo stepping back 3rd parties can compete more on a Nintendo platform without the fear of "Nintendomination" and it's good considering that the Wii is the first home system from Nintendo that I own more 3rd party than 1st party games.

E3, in general, sucked. All three companies failed to impress and to announce any exciting games (save for square, since they announced FFXIII on the 360, and that was expected), so the blame shouldn't be placed on Nintendo.

And Adolph, listen carefully...

Years ago, when the final name of the Revolution was unveiled I was pissed as all hell. I thought Nintendo had gone mad and had betrayed the gaming audience. I was 100% sure the system would fail because of such a stupid name.

Then E3 2006 came and the Wii ROCKED. I was proven wrong and realized that I was predicting doom not because I understood the industry but because of my own fears and worries.

Last year, I bought an XBOX 360. I confess that I hated the XBOX because of its annoying "hardcore" mantra and ESPECIALLY the Halo love. But then I played a friend's 360 and really enjoyed its features, games and online system.

Been having a lot of fun with both the Wii and 360 since. It was then that I realized something; constant discussion of the gaming world, as well as my own speculation, were ruining my gaming fun.

I was so focused on analyzing every game release and every decision the big three make that I had forgotten one thing; videogames are about GAMES AND FUN!

Remember the old days for a bit. Pong, one of the first games ever made, was released. Did they set out to prove something? Did they want to tell a story? Did fans spent countless nights debating about it? Nope, they just had fun with what was basically a very crude game of tennis.

I think we, and I count the gaming industry as well, are so involved into the gaming world that we are forgetting why we play games in the first game; for fun, pleasure and enjoyment.

So now I decided to stay out of any gaming discussions, avoid making early assumptions and just play the games.

I don't care if Nintendo is "betraying their core crowd". I don't care of Namco thought it was a good idea to add Star Wars characters to the Soul Calibur roster. I don't give a sh*t if the fanboys are crying foul with their asses, if the recession is affecting gaming or hell, if gaming is helping society or corrupting our youth. Just give me a good game and I'll enjoy it.

So to everyone who feels any sort of anger towards any of the three companies; chill. Its not the end of the world. There are far more important things to worry about. In the meantime, just pick up a controller and play. Chances are you'll feel better and forget this damn debate ever existed.
