New dungeons, features, abilities, and costumes are available. An eight-block file size suggests that this content isn't merely being unlocked. http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/newsArt.cfm?artid=16248 Along with the usual Monday releases of new titles for Nintendo's WiiWare or Virtual Console services, this week also sees the release of new downloadable content (DLC) for owners of the WiiWare title Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King.
Square Enix's WiiWare launch title had downloadable features, dungeons, races and buildings at launch, but this is the first new content made available for the game since then. There are five new downloads available which offer some interesting new features, dungeons, abilities and costumes previously unavailable for the game.
- Infinity Spire – 300 Wii Points, 8 Blocks – The Infinity Spire download adds 2 dungeons to the game. This includes the Infinity Spire, which gains levels and becomes more difficult every time it is cleared, offering a continuous challenge to end-game adventurers.
- Castle Renovation – 100 Wii Points, 8 Blocks – Castle Renovation adds a jukebox option to the castle, as well as the ability to rename your kingdom's adventurers. But in order to gain access to these features, you'll have to beat one added dungeon: the Tempora Estuary.
- Library – 200 Wii Points, 8 Blocks – If adventurers can clear the new Land of O'Kokuh dungeon, they'll be able to build libraries that teach adventurers race-specific abilities.
- New Royal Outfit 2 – 100 Wii Points, 3 Blocks – This download unlocks a casual summer wear outfit for the player's young king character.
- New Chancellor Outfit 2 – 100 Wii Points, 3 Blocks – This download unlocks an outfit suited for the beach and "tropical climates" for Chime, the king's female chancellor.
Previously, the largest file size for any DLC package in the game was 3 blocks. This caused some concerns as to whether the content was really being downloaded to the game, or merely unlocked. However, some of these new downloads are 8 blocks in size, significantly larger than previous downloads. This suggests that these new features are actually new content being downloaded to the game instead of merely codes used to unlock pre-existing content.
With this new batch of DLC, if someone were to purchase every available addition to the title it could cost as much as 2400 Wii Points or $24.
