Great Dreamcast Games
« on: May 16, 2008, 04:17:41 PM »
Figured we could use a thread on some of the best Dreamcast games. I was checking out my DC games last night and I noticed it was a bit thin. So does anyone have some suggestions for great games?

Here are a few of my favorites:

Chu Chu Rocket!
Caution! Seaman
Ecco the Dolphin: Defender of the Future
Grandia II
Power Stone 1 & 2
Shenmue
Sonic Adventure
Soul Calibur
Virtua Fighter 3tb
Jet Grind Radio
Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes
Crazy Taxi 1 & 2

Hmmm. I agree with ALL your picks, I'd probably add the Resident Evil game as well.

One of my absolute DC games, really obscure, is called Armada. It was described at the time as an Asteroids RPG, and that's not far off. It's a top-down perspective space shooter where you can go in any direction and kill aliens, but it has a bit of a story and you gain experience and money which let you upgrade your ship. The best part of it, and also the part I didn't get much time with, was that you could have 4 players going in co-op. There was an online-enabled sequel in the works that ended up getting canceled, I would absolutely love to see it reborn on WiiWare/LiveArcade.

If it says Dreamcast then buy it. ALL of their games were good. Except maybe the GTA and Tony Hawks games they weren't so much.

I actually have Street Fighter Alpha 3 and Street Fighter 3rd Strike and I haven't even hooked my DC up since I got either of them. The only other games I have right now are Evolution, Sonic Adventure, Mortal Kombat Gold and I think that is it.

Meh, that list is crap. Here's the best 2 Dreamcast games, though just about everyone on the planet will disagree.

1. Mortal Kombat Gold (the last edition, with the least amount of bugs)
2. WWF Royal Rumble (pure crap for single player, but the multiplayer is awesome)

I tried.  :D  Can't direct link to a Game Rankings filtered list.

I'm disappointed at the lack of mention of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 in these replies... vudu is the only one who deserves a cookie here.

Also I played the hell out of Phantasy Star Online before they instituted a monthly fee for it. I loved it, but not enough to pay like that. Also I played a lot of StarLancer online as well. It really sucks that the Dreamcast online system that was in place 8 years ago was better than Nintendo's current system. They even managed to do an online game with voice chat on a dial-up connection when Nintendo can't pull off Smash Bros. with no communication over broadband.

I'm more dissapointed by the lack of Capcom vs SNK 2, Third Strike and Mark of the Wolves actually...
