It's Latin. So no linguistic relation to German. But I could think you're Spanish, French, Romanian, Italian, or Portuguese....
Ha ha, Google Translate told me it was German.
Why would you think I'm any of those?
I'm a languages scholar, so it's more that I never say 'Happy Birthday' to anyone, I say something else. Latin is one of my favorite languages to study because I had to do so much work with it to write my Senior Thesis, so you got a Latin birthday greeting. I could just wish you a belated Happy Birthday and leave nationalities out of it, but where's the fun in that when I could confuse everybody instead? Now I have EasyCure thinking Disney is plotting the death of Felix the Cat.
you just quoted the question! "i could think you're french italian etc", mop_it_up and i both wondered how you came to that conclusion.
Oh I'm sorry for all the confusion. I chose to wish her a Happy Birthday in Latin just because that's the language I picked, randomly. Then she asked if I thought she was German. I said no, it's Latin, and Latin isn't tied to the Germanic languages, but that if she thought I was picking the language based on her perceived nationality, then I would have to think she was Spanish, French, etc. I still have no idea what she is, although I'm going to guess based on her response, she's not German.
