Brawl's price
« on: January 30, 2008, 01:46:21 AM »
I don't like making new threads but no way I'm going to be spoiled, so to be safe I'll ask here. has any price been confirmed? I've seen $60 in some places and with all they are including in the game I would think it's fair but retailers here in my country had the nasty habit of doubling the price which will hurt my poor wallet.

The Japanese price is 6,800 Yen, which equates to about 60USD. However, Nintendo's Japanese site has a few Wii titles listed as 6,800 Yen that go for 50USD. So, it's up in the air at this point. I would most likely count on it being 60USD simply because it doesn't seem to have been officially announced yet. The SmashBros. site still has it as "TBD."

Well, I was counting on US$50, since no Nintendo game that I'm aware of has ever released for more, and Iwata has spoken out against the $60 360/PS3 games.

Of course, he's also said that he wanted to charge for games based on their content... AND they released Big Brain Academy for Wii at $50, which was kind of a joke...

In conclusion, I have no idea! But I hope they won't break that barrier. Though I know they could if they wanted, and it wouldn't affect their sales much if at all. There's just so much demand for the game they can do whatever they want.

They said they're keeping Wii games at $50...plus, aren't pre-orders 10% of the price of a game, and thus $5?

I just checked the sites of GameStop, Amazon, Best Buy, and Wal Mart, they all had it listed for $50.

We should ask UncleBob to see if he's got any info about it.

It's going to be $50 just like every other Wii game. (except the crappy buget ones)
