Factor 5 working on a new Wii tile
« on: January 14, 2008, 08:48:31 AM »
According to IGN, Factor 5 is back with Nintendo and is working on a new title, one that isn't a Virtual Console game.

The funny thing? Fans are going crazy over this announcement, yet they forget that they also worked on Lair. You know, the overhyped PS3 title that was bashed to pieces to the point where Sony had to tell reviewers how to properly review it?

Funny how life works sometimes, no?

Well, I never played Lair, but Factor 5's old titles are awesome, so this is hopefully a good thing.

Damn...I pressed enter while I was writing the title. Shouldn't the forums make it so that you don't post a topic or reply without writing something first? -_-X

Hmph...Factor 5 seriously needs to just do engine work and let someone else handle the gameplay...

here's the one thing i remember about PS3 development....
it's crap, no developer likes developing on the PS3 development kits and it's really difficult hardware to write code for

I just hope that the Wii motion controls are easier to work with than the PS3's controls. If this new Wii game has terrible controls I am going to put Factor 5 into question.

It doesn't matter how difficult it is to write code; you should at least make said code fun to play.

I bet it is a flying game, because that is all Factor 5 can do. Can't say I'm too excited beyond seeing what they can do visually for Wii.

One other thing, wasn't Factor 5 constantly putting down the Wii because it was graphically inferior to the other consoles?

If so, what drove them towards Wii development? The Wii being an insane success? Sony's money hat ran dry? The fact that Lair was poorly received?

What does everybody think this new game is? Could it be a Star wars game, Maniac Mansion, or one of their point an click games of yore. Or something entirely new. I think its Sam & Max.

Factor 5 is a one trick pony... therefore, I would like to see them perform their one trick for the Wii: new Rogue Squadron sans foot based missions or any other crap (although expanded multiplayer is a must).

That's exactly what I was thinking when I first heard the announcement.

An ultra realistic version of PilotWings would be awesome (though the cartoony feel of cannon shot was my favorite part).

I was watching this HD sky diving and cliff diving show on Discovery, and it was amazing. I am definitely going to do that MANY times during my life, but I'd rather get started with a game.

A new Pilot Wings with a Team Fortress 2 style would work well in my opinion.

You're confusing F5 with LucasArts, F5's old games are stuff like Turrican and Katakis (R-Type ripoff). Also Sam & Max is now being made by Telltale (the characters are owned by Steve Purcell who used to work for Lucas Arts back in the days of Monkey Island and so).

As for the new game, I have little hope for it. F5 has shown they mastered the technical side but the gameplay was always lacking.

I say welcome back, no harm, no foul.

They maybe something of a one trick pony as others have said, but it is a one trick I do look forward to.

Wrong third party. Factor 5 "put down" the Wii for it's sound capabilities. Factor 5 Developed the sound for the Cube, but the Wii uses the same old technology as the Cube, so I think they have the right to criticize that aspect of the system.

F5 DID put down Wii 3rd parties for their lack of effort in making games for the system.
