NYKO'S WIRELESS NUNCHUCK FOR WII WINS CNET'S "BEST OF CES" AWARD FOR THE GAMING CATEGORY AT 2008 INTERNATIONAL CONSUMER ELECTRONICS SHOW

Las Vegas - January 10, 2008 - Nyko Technologies announced today that its Wireless Nunchuck for Wii received a "Best of CES" award from the editors at CNET (www.cnet.com). The winners of the "Best of CES" awards were announced Wednesday, January 9 at the 2008 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

"The nomination for CNET's 'Best of CES' award was an honor in itself, but taking home the award for the gaming category is an even greater privilege," said Chris Arbogast, Director of Marketing at Nyko Technologies. "Winning this prestigious award showcases how highly consumers and the tech community think of Nyko's commitment to advancing gameplay technologies."

"Chosen from hundreds of products at CES, Nyko's Wireless Nunchuck for Wii demonstrates the creativity, excellence and vision that sets the standard in gaming," said Jai Singh, editor-in-chief of CNET and senior vice president for Content Development. "The 'Best of CES' awards bring together the top consumer electronics that will impact the coming year for consumer electronics."

Selected by CNET's unbiased and expert editors, winners are recognized as the hottest products in their respective technology categories for unmatched innovation, creativity and ability to excite consumers while helping them explore the digital world. CNET's editors not only received and reviewed hundreds of entries, but also scoured the CES show floor for products to consider for the prestigious award.

The ten categories included digital photo and video, car tech and GPS, cell phones and smart phones, computers and hardware, emerging technologies, gaming, home audio, home video, MP3 and portable video players, and televisions. A video of the winners and finalists showcasing their technologies can be found at http://www.cnet.com/ces.

Using a dongle that attaches to the bottom of the Wii Remote, the Wireless Nunchuck features full accelerometer support for motion-based gameplay and is compatible with all games that require the Nunchuck controller attachment. The Nunchuck's ergonomic design is perfect for both left and right-handed players. Two AAA Batteries (included) provide up to 30 hours of gameplay. The Wireless Nunchuck for Wii will be available in the first quarter of 2008.

Is there a place for the wrist strap? Maybe future designs will have grips, but I don't think the Wiimote should get more encouragement to be any more phallic than it already is. Maybe wear some gloves. Cool product nonetheless.

I believe that this comes with a separate strap that hooks into the nunchuk. I'll wait until someone puts the accelerometer through its paces to make sure it's as good as Nintendo's, but if it is I'll probably pick one of these up.

I also think 29.99 for the wireless nunchuk is too much.

$30 + AAA batteries = no buy for me.

I've already spent a lot of money on a AA charger and a bunch of batteries, so I really have no interest in buying AAA batteries for a Wii accessory.  I guess size was their reason for doing it, since one AA wouldn't be enough, and two AAs would be too big.  The nunchuck isn't meant to be wireless.

I'd get this if I could fit it in some of my third party Zappers, but that thing you attach to the bottom of the wiimote must make it incompatible with my zapper casings.

I seriously don't see what the deal is with this thing...  I would have preferred a Wireless Classic Controller before this thing....

While it does sound interesting and mimics the first party nunchuk nicely its still retarded since its 10 bucks more, no one knows how well the motion sensor is on that thing and AAA batteries suck.

I think he means a device where you plug one thing into the end of the GC controller cord and one into the GameCube (or Wii) and you could tie up the rest of the GC controller cord and presto, you have a Wireless (sort of) GameCube controller without having to settle for a third-party controller.

And Nyko did make one great product recently, the Classic Controller Grip. Of course, it didn't involve anything electronic, it was just a couple pieces of plastic, but it makes the Classic controller a lot more comfortable to hold and has a place for the remote. Best $7 I ever spent on a gaming accessory.

Now that is an attachment that I originally proposed back when we first saw the Wii.
Think of the SNES 4-player adapter only wireless and with GC controller ports. I sit way too far from the TV to ever hook up GC controllers.
I'm not quite sure how it was accomplished before, but its really not gonna work now.
