Why no more TMNT VC games?
« on: December 30, 2007, 01:03:55 PM »
Did the original untouched Arcade Game for XBox live not sell well?   I still pray for the day when they release that and Turtles in Time for the Wii in multiplayer.  Makes up for the TMNT Movie game not being multiplayer, as far as I'm concerned .

I still may wind up getting an XBox for that, the new Ghostbusters game, and the brand new Pac-Man game that was released.  Not to mention the back catalog of Star Wars games that where never released on a Nintendo Console

The TMNT '89 Arcade as far as I know went over great on Xbox Live Arcade.  I don't really see it coming to WiiWare sadly.  We're more inclined to get "Turtles 2 The Arcade" for NES and/or "Turtles4: Turtles in Time" for SNES.

Personally I'm hoping for "Turtles III: The Manhattan Project" that was some hardcore Ninja Turtles action that was still hard, but not something totally unbeatable.  Don't get me wrong, I like Turtles 4 too.

ohhh, and we better not have to pay 100 points more for it like we did if we wanted Turtles 1 on NES

Manhattan Project was hard? The game was easy as hell with the special moves. You can't die when you have 1 energy left. Just abuse and win.

Personally, I'd rather get the SNES version of Turtles in Time than the Arcade Version. I've played both extensively and I have always preferred the SNES version over the Arcade version. However, I would rather get the Turtles 2 Arcade game than the NES port because it is clearly superior.

At least the TMNT 2: the arcade game for NES had 2 new levels. But, the original arcade version will always be my favorite.

Hey, I never said that I preferred the Arcade version of Turtles4.  I'm with everyone else cause the SNES version of Turtles4 was just as good (some may argue better) as the Arcade and had a couple more levels if i remember correctly

The arcade version had the mythical 4-player support.

But the SNES version was MUCH MORE RESPONSIVE in animation & programming.

So either way, nobody wins and there's nothing good to hope for cuz Konami sucks since a 4-player SNES version will never materialize.

Well I know that Konami has the rights to the old ones but the big question is does Ubisoft still have the license to the games since the last TMNT game made was by Ubisoft.

Turtles in Time is the Best Ninja Turtles game created.  And, I would love for the game to be ported to the Virtual Console, but I would love it if they could add 4 player support, because that is what made the arcade version so great.  It was designed for 4 Players.

But the game I want is Trog (A true port of the arcade game, not the NES version.)

I wouldn't say the SNES version of Turtles in Time is clearly superior, but they both have its ups and downs. The Arcade version has over 10 enemies on screen at once, where as the SNES version can only afford 4 enemies at once. The Arcade version had a difficulty balance that makes it so damn cool. You'll see more or less enemies depending on how well you play the game.

Turtles IV: Turtles in Time is my absolute favorite TMNT game.  I'm really hoping that it gets released soon on the VC.  Though, I do own it on the SNES, it would be nice to have it stored right there on the Wii.. ready to be played at any time.

This whole 4-player support for turtles 4 doesn't matter since there isn't going to be any online support for VC games.

If you want 4 player action on one screen, are there really that many people who will be able to take advantage of that?

Oh BTW, I have some... disturbing information... If you guys bought the TMNT game that came out a few years ago, you'd know it came with Turtles in Time packaged with it. Well, the game's music got butchered due to some weird copy right problem. Like Konami and Mirage no long owns the music since it was based on the Archie TMNT characters or some crap. They had to remove the awesome soundtrack and replaced it with some generic trash.

How come whenever they package Turtles 89' Arcade in with "the new TMNT 2", they had to cut out the original music, however, the Turtles Arcade on Xbox Live Arcade has all the original sound and music?

I think everyone was aware that the original Turtles Arcade game was an added bonus with "the new TMNT 2" and Turtles 4 was the added bonus on "the new TMNT 3" (I thought it was the arcade version)  Unless your talking about the game based on the movie.....which one are you talking about?

"If you want 4 player action on one screen, are there really that many people who will be able to take advantage of that?"

Hasn't that been pretty commonplace since the N64 came out in 1996?  Suddenly because online exists getting a four player game going on one console with one TV at one house is a big hassle?

Turtles IV with four player support would be fantastic but sadly we'll never get it.  Game companies are just too lazy to do that sort of thing.  Konami will only ever re-release the arcade game or the SNES game but wouldn't consider making a special edition that combines the best elements of both.  They probably don't think it's worth the cost and they're probably right.  Yeah some of us here want that but odds are most of the market for this game isn't even really familiar with the differences and thus would just buy version or the other.  Sadly there probably isn't many extra sales that would be made with a special edition to justify the extra development.  Hell for years I assumed the arcade version of Turtles in Time was the best one until I downloaded it on MAME and realized it was missing levels.

I'm talking about the package version. I don't have XBL so I have no clue if the music was intact. If what you said is true, then that's just weird. There might be hope after all.

well, the 89' Arcade version thats a bonus on "the new TMNT2" game has some 2nd rate background music, but thats it, any ingame voices like from shredder or april are cut out....even the turtles going "AHhh shell shock".  I think the only thing it was able to keep was the beat em up sounds of smacking enimies and stuff blowing up

The Xbox Live Arcade version has everything, my only guess is microsoft had some clout and wouldn't let them bring a watered down version to live arcade, I'm sure with a game like that there's a bunch of people with their hands in the royalties jar.

Whats funny is, it's still only 5 bucks.  For original everything AND xbox live Co-Op support.

Still another reason I think we are getting ripped off on VC Games.

Microsoft has the Nintendo Seal of Quality thing going on, Nes era iron gauntlet style for XBLA. I've heard that it's difficult to get MS to approve your game for XBLA, it has to match what they want for the platform or you're out of luck.

Nintendo is taking the "bring on the games" approach of the PS and PS2: if you've got it and it works, release it. That's one reason that the number of VC games dwarfs anything that XBLA and PSN can accrete, and one reason why Wii Ware will basically have no screening for concept or quality, just for bugs and an ESRB rating. Obviously Nintendo feels burned by the lack of third-party support the past two generations, and is making a real effort to clear a wide berth for third parties.
