CAPCOM® RELEASES ZACK & WIKI: QUEST FOR BARBAROS' TREASURE, A PUZZLING NEW ADVENTURE EXCLUSIVELY FOR THE Wii

Pillaging Pirate Adventure Challenges Gamers to Play Different

SAN MATEO, Calif - October 23, 2007 - Capcom®, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today announced that ZACK & WIKI™: Quest for Barbaros’ Treasure for the Wii™ home video game system from Nintendo is now available at retail. Capcom’s first original title exclusively for the Wii is an innovative, full-length puzzle adventure game that utilizes the unique control mechanics of the Wii Remote™ and challenges gamers to “play different." Rated E for Everyone by the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB), ZACK & WIKI: Quest for Barbaros’ Treasure carries a suggested retail price of $39.99.

Legend has it that a revered pirate named Barbaros once stole the world’s treasure and hid it on a mysterious island. Though no one knows of its exact location, stories about the untold riches that lay in wait have been passed down through the ages, driving pirates from all walks of life to pursue the alluring prizes. One of these treasure seekers, a young apprentice pirate named Zack happens upon a mysterious talking skull, the skull of Barbaros himself. Barbaros promises to reveal the key to the island, if Zack will help to lift the curse he is under.

Players will explore a variety of wondrous environments and stages, solving puzzles and interacting with the world in search of a legendary pirate ship and the ultimate pursuit of becoming the greatest pirate the world has ever seen. Inventive gameplay mechanics and controller movements allow players to move and open objects, transform enemies into items, unlock new pathways and navigate through perilous stages based on a variety of themes including Jungle Ruins, Frozen Temple, Volcano Cavern and more, each with multiple sub-areas. Players will use the Wii Remote controller in various ways - rotate handles, turn keys to open doors, play a piccolo and much more in order to solve the progressively difficult puzzle stages and collect key items that will lead to the legendary pirate ship.

Good luck finding it... based on my experience a more accurate headline would be "Zack & Wiki Now Slowly Making Its Way Toward the General Vicinity of Stores."

Everybody buy this game...NOW!!!!!!!!

Seriously, if the game is a good as everyone says it is then we must support it! That should stop third parties from saying that their games are going to flop on the Wii!

I should be getting this today.

I was already sold on the budget price and point and click adventure style. I hope this does well. 3rd parties need to know that GOOD games will sell on the Wii but they need to be, you know, good.

Picked mine up! Got it just as the UPS man came in, I don't think they ordered many because the box was pretty small. I'll be enjoying this tonight.

I got mine but . . .

it doesn't look good for Zack & Wiki.

Capcom has completely failed at making this game known AT ALL.

I walk into my local gamestop and ask for a copy. Some new guy is helping me and says "sure we have that" and starts looking around for it . . . a number of minutes later he asks what system it's for. I say the Wii. He says "ohhhh ok!" and continues to look . . . more time goes by and the veteran gamestop guy who has helped me many times and knows tons about games and their releases asks what I am looking for.

He looks it up on the computer and asks "Zack & Wiki is that a new game for . . .  DS?" I said ". . . no for Wii". He says "ohhh ok, well we have it in . . ." and they both continue to look for them. They can't find the game anywhere behind the counter so he asks some guy in the back.

He comes back with a copy and says "Heh sorry about that, we got in 3 copies and they were all on the shelf".

I was happy to finally get my copy but man, only THREE copies Capcom? And the clerks don't even know about a brand new game they got in?

Not a great way to kick off things with a new IP.

$40 US = $45 AUD. Yet it's going to cost $100 when it launches in December = $90 US

I went to Best Buy and GameStop and didn't see it.  I wasn't looking for it.  In fact, I wasn't looking for anything, but nothing came out to be a tough decision between that Wii Namco Remix and Dewey's Adventure, Dewey won, but now I want to go back and get that Namco Remix thing, too.

The Gamestop guy today tried to sell me a OPENED copy of Zack & Wiki.  I'm like "HELL NAWW! FORK THAT SHUMBIZZLE"  So I pre-ordered Ghost Squad.

The store only received 2 copies.  TWO.  One of them was already opened and the price tag was stuck to the DVD casing without plastic wrap.

He said there would've been more if people actually pre-ordered, that way they would've had a better indicator of DEMAND and requested more launch copies.

The world fails for not pre-ordering.

Looks like Capcom was right to predict the low demand and predict the game would bomb.  That way, they'd only make 20 copies for the whole world and save lots of cash on printing discs and disc covers.  Smart business all-around, as usual.

My Gamestop sold out of their only 2 copies of Dewy's adventure almost instantly as well.

*shakes fist*

I blame YOU!!! Yes.. YOU reader! For not pre-ordering these games!

DON'T Pre-order Mario. DON'T Pre-order Smash Bros.  Those games will have TONS of copies and have no problem shipping more.

Pre-order the SMALL games, the games no one expects to do good. THESE are the games that will benefit from you pre-ordering... so PRE-ORDER them! And Atlus games too...

Why send copies to stores when it's only going to get buried by Mario and space marines?

Not when you want to absolutely minimize excess unsold stock. If you're playing the most conservative retail-ordering game evar, then pre-orders are not a bad way to go.

But if you can encourage brick-and-mortar stores to order more, then you win shelf-space for the game for casual walk-in purchases.

Hey Pro, I don't think you want this game anyway. In the cut scenes, the screen narrows to a wider aspect ratio (I guess) that means it's FMV and not in-game rendered right?
