Seriously, I love this thing.  It's pretty useless, really, considering I don't play any of the Phantasy Star games - although, it does work on the Action Reply that I use occasionally.

It'd be nice to be able to use it on my Wii.

This firmware update was completely unexciting.

They're probably not trying to brick any, it may just be asscovering in case someone bricks his console and decides to sue Nintendo.

Just to throw it out there; I too have a GCN Ascii Keyboard, and it was plenty helpful back when I actually played PSO.

Yeah - since it's mostly impossible and unrealistic to expect Nintendo to test their firmware updates on every type of Wii Mod, it's a "just in case" thing...

Also I'd like to redact my statement: NOA and NCL are probably not trying to brick consoles on purpose, NOE most likely does. Just a hunch based on them breaking Freeloader compatibility all the time.

Yes UncleBob you should have played PSO.  Nintendo should convince Sega to update the graphics some and ax the licensing fee and release a compilation of PSO 1-3 plus and add new things to all the episodes.  Maybe even convince them to get rid of some of the duplicate bosses.  I buy that in a hear beat and no one would hear from me again for about a month maybe 2.

Ceric, I'd buy it too.  It would more amazing if I could recover my gamecube save too.

Yes, one of my saves that I had 100 hours on the memory card started to go flaky and I tried to copy it over but, you can't copy those files.  I was surprised.  I really love to recover all that.

If they ever do re-release PSO Episode I, II, and III for the Wii they should add Episode 4/Blue Burst just to make it complete.

I have been wanting to try PSU but I have not had a system capable of running it, seeing as how it does run on the PS2, maybe we will get a version of that eventually.

So the web browser now makes an even more annoying noise when typing after this update.

Also, is anyone else noticing the ā€œiā€ (info) icon from the menu tab even when hidden?

I agree with KDR. It's usually a bunch of mindless button mashing.

I don't think it's that mindless since you do have to keep dodging but it's very monotonous and repetitive.

*Shrug*  I'll agree it can be mindless but I don't know what it is but I never get tired of it even though it is mostly just kill Monster rinse and repeat.  It might be how they have a rythm(sp?) system with the attacks, the dodging, and the way to can very things up.  Not to mention the low level strategy that is in there with the whole long-, short-, mid-range choices.

I didn't se a reason to.  The update doesn't really do anything objectible to the two.

I asked because the Internet Channel update apparently wants to take up another 200-ish blocks of space... does the old one get deleted or domething after the update is downloaded?

Yes.

Hi,

I appreciate your taking the time to share your comments with us regarding the ASCII Keyboard Controller for the Nintendo GameCube.  While I haven't heard of any plans to make this controller compatible with the Wii console, I will be happy to pass along your e-mail to the appropriate department for further review.  If we get any updated information on this subject, we'll be sure to post the news to our website (www.nintendo.com), so please check back from time to time.
