Shoot 'em Up
« on: September 09, 2007, 07:51:42 AM »
So . . . after the terrible "Balls of Fury" movie, my friends and I were in search of a film that would hopefully end the summer on a good note.

Shoot 'em Up was chosen . . . but was it worth the price of admission?

If you're looking for a deep, story driven movie, Shoot 'em up is not for you.

If you're looking for a kick ass, non-stop action packed movie that never has any boring moments, Shoot 'em Up will not let you down.

Pure action to the max with crazy, non-sensical scenes that just, well, work for the film. It's probably the best pure action movie I have seen to date and it actually somehow works in a story plot without letting up on the action. In fact, even when there is a sex scene, there is STILL action going on, the killing kind of action, if you see the film you will understand lol.

All in all it was a really fun movie to just go and see. Clive Owen does another fantastic job of playing the good bad ass while Paul Giamatti makes a surprisingly good villain.

I would recommend it to anyone looking for an hour and a half of kick ass action.

Sounds like my kind of movie.
"I am going away, but the State will always remain" - Louis XIV, on his deathbed.

"Chimps are like fine wine: I drink them both." - A friend of a friend of mine.

Lol good point. I have seen private parts (which he was also excellent in) but this villainy role is a tad different than most of the roles I have seen him play.

In any case he doesn't disappoint =)

OMG that movie was SICK in the best was possible!!!

It had all the bad-assery of 300* with none of the homo-eroticism(sp?). A truly must see movie.

*depends on your taste in bad-assery, whether you like gun action or physical action. This movie lacked the latter but excelled in the former

I haven't seen this, but I can pretty much guarantee you that Hard Boiled is a better action movie.

That said, I'll probably see this sometime, even though I hate Pual Giamatti.

(I love love love Monica Bellucci)

I just saw it.

That was perhaps the most awesome 80 minutes of movie I've ever seen. I like two kinds of movies: deep ones with lots of well thought-out plot, and shut-off-your-brain fragfests. This was the latter of the two. Every shootout was so over-the-top and every one-liner so terrible it was inhumanly awesome.

I need to get this on DVD.
"I am going away, but the State will always remain" - Louis XIV, on his deathbed.

"Chimps are like fine wine: I drink them both." - A friend of a friend of mine.

Personally, I think it would be better to stay home and play another round of Ikaruga.  Or Rrootage.  Or Raiden Fighters Jet. Or Nanostray.  Or Darius Twin.  Or Gradius III.  Or a whole bunch of other shmups.

But in how many of those do you get to kill a guy by sticking bullets between your broken fingers and putting your hand into a fire so they discharge and nail him in the chest?

Man that scene pwned so bad, the whole carrot shtick was awesome too, as well as all the “you know what i hate?” moments. The scene with the guy not using his blinkers really touched me, since i fantasize about doing what he did

I liked the film as a reinterpretation of Bugs Bunny vs Elmer Fudd.
