Mother 3 in Brawl
« on: August 11, 2007, 03:28:56 AM »
Actually with Ness fever running rampant, this news is a bit interesting.

Mother 3 Info

Mostly talks about their progress on the Mother 3 translation but talks about brawl briefly

There’s also a little bit more info we’ve caught wind of. Can’t reveal it here (and definitely wouldn’t want to…), but it basically equates to the fact that Smash Bros. Brawl is going to ABSOLUTELY, UNQUESTIONABLY spoil MOTHER 3 for EB fans who haven’t played the game yet

This was talked about after the Franklin Badge.  Although I would still expect Ness, it sounds more like a stage that will be unveiled later.  I'm a bit unsure how reliable these guys are, they run Starmen.net so if anyone would know it would most likely be them.

Well one of the guys there said there'd be something Mother-related this past week, so he was either really lucky or did, in fact, know something...

Personally, I think the more Mother-related stuff, the better... =)

Well, if it's going to spoil.... who was the last boss in Mother 3? Perhaps they appear in Adventure Mode?

Not really that big of a spoiler...I fully expected Pokey to return (I mean, he pretty much says he will at the end of Mother 2)... =D

But I don't expect that to be the "major spoilers" that might appear in Brawl...

There's actually a bigger and EXTREMELY tragic event in Mother 3 that would absolutely kill you if it was spoiled. I can't spoil it, but it's very emotional. You don't even need to know Japanese to fully understand everything.

Oh great, now I'm curious! *shakes fist at Terranigma*

(Makes me wonder if this spoiler will show up during an Adventure Mode cutscene for a Mother character...)

What I've posted in the tags are major spoilers for around the end of the game, and probably the reason SSB:B would get spoiled by the inclusion of Mother 3.

I know what they mean, I think.  They're talking about Claus.  Very late in the game, he gets a whole lot of powers and abilities.  He's not very strong for most of it, and Lucas is.  At the end, the major spoilers is that he ends up having all the amazing abilities.  If he winds up as a fighter in Brawl, he'll have those abilities, and the game will be heavily spoiled.

Edit:  I don't think it's the tragic spoiler, because from what I've read, that happens early in the game.  I personally, have tried to find out info on the game, but without spoilers, but have failed in some respects of this.  The only real spoiler I know is the one I posted, but it seems to me like that's the one they would be worried about.

Covert editing tag!

Wait, what?  That doesn't make any sense...From what I've heard of the game, Claus is only playable at the very beginning of the game, and then he disappears until the end...Thus, it wouldn't make sense to say that "he's not strong through most of the game," when he's...not even IN the game!

Well, then that's what happens.  All I know is that the particular major spoiler is what happens at the end involving what I mentioned above.  Like I said, I've skirted around pretty much all the details, because I didn't want to know the spoilers, but that's the big one at the end, and Brawl could easily reveal it, if you ask me.

I'd imagine that the only way they'd use a Mother 3 character would be if it's a character who appears in both Mother 3 and Earthbound.

ok I've decided to build on what thatguy posted earlier.  This will be the end all be all spoiler so Bill please turn your head.

Claus is actually killed ressurected and brainwashed by Pokey and is the masked General of the Pig Army, The final fight in the game is between Lucas and Claus, Hinawa (Their mom) begs Claus to stop...  But they continue to fight. Claus has a lightning attack which doesn't hurt Lucas thanks to the Franklin badge (Probably why the Franklin Badge design looks like Mother 3's)  At the end of the battle Claus removes his helmet and it is implied he dies.

That's the gist of it and that's a lot of blacked out text it looks like a declassified government document

This sounds like Nintendo's way of "releasing Mother 3" to me if they spoil the ending, I mean who likes playing a game after the end is spoiled.  then their offical statement would be "You don't like that we spoiled it?????? TOOOOOOOOOO BAAAAAAAAADDDDDDDD

And if they only decide to include a mother character with an appearance in mother two as well we can hope for

Dr. Andonuts, Mr. Saturn or Pokey

I was going to say the same thing.

I just walk into this thread and BAM! Project Blue Book explodes onto my screen.
