I like the Ashley theme. It should be good fighting music.
Also, Mona Pizza had better be in there two. >:|

I was all mister curiosity to hear Ashley's theme in Irish/British, German, Spanish, French, and Italian, but I was really dissapointed that they are using the American version.

And I didn't like it either how they mixed Ashley's theme.

If you're bothered by the mix of Ashley's theme, think of it as Ashley's theme being performed by Mona. That makes a lot of sense in a very in-universe way. In this English version, at least, I don't think it sounds like it's even supposed to be Ashley singing.

I think Mona has a better chance of being playable than Ashley, because Mona's been in all the games, and has shown a lot more potential variety for moves. I fully expect Ashley to show up as an Assist. 9-Volt could appear, but he would almost be redundant in a game that's already about Nintendo crossovers. He might make more sense as a regular trophy than an Assist, but I wouldn't be surprised either way.

This song is the DEFINITION of cheese.

And I'm sorry to crap all over this, but I loved the original Ashley theme and, like I said, it was the music which got us liking the theme in the first place. I was initially glad to see it was back before I clicked the play button.

I don't know who over there thought lounge jazz sounded "spooky" or was in any way appropriate for a spooky song, but he's off his rocker.

I think you miss understood.  I am not meaning that the song isn't cheesy...the song is wonderfully deliciously cheesy.  (just like that pun)

But the translation is a GOOD translation.  The voices singing sound like the original Japanese singers, and the translation captures the feel of the original piece well. There have been some really crappy Anime translated songs that just sounds horrible compared to the original piece.

Maybe we'll be ultra lucky and the REAL Ashley theme will be an unlockable My Music theme for the Wario Ware stage.

If you hate it so much that's why Sakurai added the "My Music" option. Just lower the chances of it playing it on the Wario ware stage and that's it, PROBLEM SOLVED.

In fact, its almost like Sakurai knew that fans would throw a fit over how certain songs are remixed and added the multiple song options so that people can find the tunes they want to listen.

Agreed.

It sounds like a lousy lounge act doing a cover of Ashley's theme. If they had just taken the original theme and sped it up a bit, it would have been FINE.

Like I said, I hope it's an option, or at least that the lounge mix isn't the default theme for the stage.

I like the remix, I've been listing to it over and over.
I really like the new version of Ashley's theme, It fits Smash Bros.
Could you imagine trying to fight to the original version? It would be so slow, It would be like trying to fight to the theme song of the the Addams Family cartoon.

Sure its more upbeat but you know what thats perfectly fine with me, I love it.

And I really like the new english voice. Which is a first, I normally like the japanese voices more then the english, But to me the english version sounds perfect. The Japanese voice is to high pitch and just doesn't sound right for a witch girl like Ashley.

It really is a bit too slow-paced for Brawl, but it'd still be rad if they included it (with the poor GBA-ish sound quality intact!)

While it may not be the best remix of the song, it is still good in my opinion, even if it is a Lounge Mix, but then again I love Lounge music. By the way has anyone here heard of Richard Cheese?

I think the reason why the DS cooking software music is not up on any other site except for the Japanese one really has to do with the fact that it is being used as a joke, as a kind of tie-in with Kirby's cooking based Final Smash, and most outside of Japan would have no frame of reference and would require an explanation. Assuming that is true you can then rationalize the fact that both Lucas and the AT Devil more directly affect game play while a song does not, thus explaining why the song did not show up in the other region updates.

As for the possible reason that the codec conversations did not show up except for the U.S. and Japan websites it may have to do with the fact that in order to get the the full effect of the jokes you have to speak the languages and they might not have been able to add sub-titles to the videos, and since the codec conversations are a superfluous part of the game and/or they do not have the time or money to add sub-titles for the website alone (the UK... ers and Irish get the raw end because of the fact that they are part of the same relative region as the other languages). It is either that or a possible licensing issue.

I just have to post an incredibly awesome image I found at GAF...

Truly, incredibly awesome!

Oh yes, I'm not sure I want to pick through music complaints to see if anyone has posted this, but Brawl will be PLAYABLE at "E for All"...So if there is anyone going they need to collect some impressions...

Damn them and their "Let's do all this crap in California" nonsense!

I still agree with the sentiment that, years ago, someone lifted up the US by the east cost and all the fruits and nuts rolled down to California.

My face just exploded after seeing that pic though Samus is on there twice and if Back to the Future has taught me anything, the fabric of the space time continuum should have unraveled and destroyed the entire universe.

And I don't mind Ashley's theme remix. Not great, but it's not terrible.

Terrible shame that E for All is in LA. I'm not f-ing close.

Ok.  Both songs are good...but I really like the new Brawl remix for a fast action game...I do not think the new version is a bastardization of the original.  It is just different.

What do you think is going on in the background?

As for Ashley's theme, if people like it, so be it. I'm not going to argue music tastes as that's about as sensible as arguing pizza toppings.

I LOVE the Japanese version of Ashley's song... but dislike the English one... figures I guess.

I think the difference is just the lead singer, as the Japanese one fits the melody perfectly with a nice sweet voice, but the English one just messes it all up as the lead tries to belt it out there and doesn't gel with the melody nearly as well.

On a random note, I guess this is the myspace page of the singer in the English version:

I hate to sound like a Japanophile, but Japanese just works so much better in song than English does...It really is a melodic language... =3

The funny thing? She confirms on her profile that she is recording a song for Brawl on August and we didn't learn about it till October. If we had use some leet detective skills we would've figured this out months before the actual confirmation came out.

I hate to contribute to the whining, but I'm not crazy about the lead vocals on the American Ashley song.  She just sounds way too perky to be Ashley...you can even hear her gasping for breath she's singing so hard.  I don't mind the remix otherwise, in fact I like her voice...but I just can't imagine Ashley singing like that.

The E for all announcement is awesome!

Quick, everyone, scour random myspace pages to see if we can't learn anything else about Brawl ahead of time!

EDIT: Also, good work all Nintendo fans for nerding up that entry on her page

We have been so busy discussing Ashley's theme that NO ONE has yet to talk about the song featured on the Japanese version of Kirby's Final Smash. It mentions "DS", but what is it???
