Perhaps I should have used a emoticon as well. In any case,
1. Nala kicked Simba's ass.
2. Nana was useless
3. Hopefully, the Ice Climbers get a better 3rd jump

Rice Climbers: Don't Throw Them At Weddings

Actually, I was playing Melee today, and Ice Climbers are actually pretty good in 3-4 person matches at stopping fast opponents like Fox and Capt. Falcon in the tracks, even if they're not that powerful themselves. Thus, I deem them practical, though again their uniqueness is enough of a qualification for a return appearance. Wonder how they'll put them into the storyline with no backstory and no major enemies, I believe...

Now that the Ice Climbers are back.  I sort of like to see Lolo and Lala from the Eggerland Series.  The Kirby iteration of them that I know the two are always together and they fly.  Plus they also seem to have a good amount of backstory from reading the Wikipedia entry and they're HAL.

What is this?! As far as hooks go, this is pretty odd. It may even be a little hardcore.

Oh heck yes, 4player online! Now I am officially excited for the game, I would have been "meh" with only 2 player online, and "Boy Nintendo sucks" if it had no online.

Am I the only one that finds it funny that neither Mashiro or Arbok are on for the best announcement, considering they have been Smash Brother Brawl's biggest fans?

I'm glad they decided to go with online even if the connection isn't always perfect. Most people I'd play are pretty close to me anyway. Most.... not all. I can't wait to play people here.

I'm still of the opinion that nothing beats playing against someone in the same room right next to you, even with voice chat online. But since that's not always possible, I'm glad Nintendo is finally embracing online play. Smash was going to rock my face off if it had no online play, now it just rocks more of my face off.

Infinite + 1 replay value

This game will officially never get old for me... (edit) until Smash 4 comes out.

These short messages are entered in advance, and you send them by taunting. There are four messages for the four directions on the +Control Pad: Up, down, left and right.
Hmm. Hmmmmm.. so then, what happens when you're only using the remote as a control method.

Intriguing.

If you think of your opponent as a simple scarecrow, any psychological barriers may melt away.

Sakurai just won the English language, that was the greatest sentence ever conceived.

And it comes in a blog post on a Tuesday, I wouldn't have guessed that. No warning, no sign, no anything. Oh well.

This settles one of the biggest arguments regarding this game. I know for a fact money is changing hands because of wagers about this. I think the taunting system is about as good as you can get without full-on voice chat. I am certain there will be complaints about no records for random play, because that is the last thing even remotely negative about the game that I can see. This game is going to be one for the ages, one of the best all time, and I can't wait. Super Mario Galaxy is still going to be better.

Not to be a killjoy but a friend of mine brought this up. He believes that the online mode will not allow you to pick which friends to battle, like in Mario Kart DS.

He assumed this from the screens.

I never played MK DS online so I can't say how good or bad this may be.

Can anyone clear this up for me?

Oh, they'll still disconnect... just because - although this is a bit of a deterrent (no records of ANY kind)

The way they seem to picture friend matches is that you arrange the meetup out of band and then log in and select friend match.  The likely hood that other friends are just sitting there in that mode waiting for someone to join is VERY low.

How I understand how it works is Once you start doing your taunt you can then push up,down, left, right to throw out your custom slam.  That is really all there is to it.  So I am guessing while you taunt you will vunerable.

I can't wait to play Captain Falcon, and have him speak and my taunt be:  "Show me your moves!"

This is such a great update.  And with this update we have another new thing to speculate about...Online Modes.  I am expecting you can trade Sticker Pages, and Smash photos with friends.  Perhaps even Trophies...that would be awesome.

Actually it looks a lot better than what I first thought....

Just point him at this picture: (See "Register your friends!" on today's update)

You can:
1) Leave "away notes" like, "I'll be playing tonight at 8!"
2) See who's online (Janey in the shot)
3) See who's hosting a game (Bill in the shot)
4) Presumably join games being hosted (click on Bill to join his game)

Your name and FC are easily found at the top (A nice change)

Overall the interface looks very nice compared to DS efforts at the same, and the away messages should help a ton for setting up matches
