Changes to existing characters and new characters are just about all I care about because those have the most direct influence on gameplay.

Stages and music are nice, but I'm more concerned about who I'll be playing as than where and what I'll be listening to at the time.

I'm very happy that Diddy is finally in SSB. He got a MAJOR shaft in Melee (a Dixie trophy but no Diddy?? WTF?). Plus its nice that the DK series gets another character in Brawl.

It was a late update, but definitely worth it.

Now we can't expect a week of weak and crappy updates, since that seems to be the rule.

"Is there no END to your negativity?!"

The game won't suck or be "unbalanced" because Diddy is in the game... =3

"Stages and music are nice, but I'm more concerned about who I'll be playing as than where and what I'll be listening to at the time."

I'm just worried that Sakurai will reveal all the starters too quickly, leaving less character goodies to be revealed in the upcoming months!

I wanted Dixie Kong... but I'm very happy that there is another character from the franchise. Very interested to see what his final smash might be like.

I always enjoy new character updates.  I wish he'd include their special moves with the update though.  Having those separate seems to waste an update to me.

Actually, looking at the updates, he has been pretty consistent with having one new character every week.  There has been only about 2 or 3 weeks where no new character was introduced since the relaunch of the site.

Okay, there are 14 weeks left until Brawl comes out.  That gives a chance for 11-14 characters based on the pattern.  That's a lot of characters available from the start unlocked.

And there you go again with your BASELESS speculation! For all you know, Diddy could COMPLETELY unbalance the game!

I think he's getting the characters from existing smash franchises out of the way first before hopefully showing some new franchise characters.

That reason doesn't make any sense.  By your logic, none of the updates should be important to you!

I think he means he cares less about things like music and levels and doesn't mind waiting to see them, which I agree with.

The characters are where it's at. I can wait to see the music and levels, but seeing the characters actually makes me excited.

Oh my God, worst argument ever.

Diddy Kong sounds interesting, since I bet he controls uniquely compared any of the other characters (otherwise Sakurai wouldn't have brought it up). And I never played DK64 so I guess some of his moves'll be a surprise to me, which is always fun.

Exactly.  With music and stage reveals you get a taste of what the game has to offer and a nice reveal...but it is the characters that have you dreaming up how they play.  Are they fast?  slower?  Will they have great Smash attacks?  What about the final Smash I wonder what that will be.

You just begin to "dream" about the character and fighting.  But also when a character is revealed you get so much more.  You get a level reveal and music reveal at the same time.  For instance, now that we have Diddy Kong we know there will probably be another Kong Level more representative of the Donkey Kong franchise.

Yeah, as soon as I see a character revealed, I imagine what it'll be like to fight as/against that character myself.

I like the stage updates. I still play Melee, but it gets boring sometimes because I'm so used to the stages. A lot of the stages are just lame or are only fun every so often. However, I don't get tired of using Link, Zelda, and Peach all the time. That's why I've always advocated a Create-a-Stage mode. That adds even more replay value to the game. You can have fun making the stages and then sharing and playing on them with friends.

Eh... never really liked it

Spinning around, giving a peace sign and giving off a "Wohoo" or some equivalent would be so much more insulting and irritating to the human opponents IMO.

I'd like multiple taunts plz.

Tonight, we will see the Peach's cake stage, or Mario 64 castle theme music.

Wow. They're not even trying, are they? The arrangement is great, but the MIDI itself is total sh!t. It sounds like FF7 music.

Wow, Yoshi has a strange update. I was taken a back by it at first... until I recalled that the Blue Yoshi from Mario World did in fact get wings when it ate turtle shells. So it's not totally out of left field, I guess.

Well, I love Yoshi's Final Smash, but it's missing one thing:  Stomping powers.  He needs to be able to land on the ground to do a ground pound.  Also, he should shove s color-changing koopa shell in his mouth upon activation.

I thought it was great! If they made it too ornate, it'd be against the low-fi AC spirit. It's my favorite song from the game, so I'm happy.

And I'm glad Yoshi's Final Smash doesn't involve a giant egg or something.

They didn't have to make it more ornate to orchestrate it, or at least use high-quality MIDI.
