Well, here's the thing. I can imagine that in Japan, it's pronounced "Stah-fee," which works well. But as an American, I can't look at the word and not read it as "Stay-fee," which doesn't work at all. I think the spelling "Starfy" would better convey the intended sound.

I also agree with Tanookisuit, a DS rerelease of sorts would be good. They should try to get all the Japan-only stuff in Brawl out in America now, through VC or through GBA-to-DS conversions, etc.

I think an extra 'f' would suffice the pronunciation issue.

Then it'd be Staffy. Like "staff." No.

Edit: Actually, I guess that's better than Stafy.

More co-op! Sakurai starts the week off with a good one. I'm not very good at Smash Bros. (I never finished Event mode or all the Break the Targets in Melee), but my friend is, so this will be great for us. I wonder if these are playable via Wi-Fi...

Tonight's update was excellent!

First, 2 player co-op in event mode. Some events can be played with a friend. Nice!

Second, they confirmed the return of coin battle mode. I thought the mode was kind of blah in Melee, but hopefully it will be better in Brawl.

Finally, they confirmed 2 player break the targets.

Brawl is definitely a multiplayer title!

This is probably the biggest update we've had since the Stage Builder.  2 player co-op in both Event Mode and Break the Target is a great addition.  Considering how Smash Bros is best played with groups of people around, allowing more multiplayer options is always a win.

Hmm, with an update this good, it makes me wonder if the filler is over.  We are only one week away until the 24th which will mark the final month before the Japan release, so it makes sense that the big updates are going to start returning now.  Of course I still think Sakurai's saving something Megaton worthy for next week.

For adventure mode. Not for event or target mode.

I'm also wondering whether there will be online coop..

Now that would be cool if it had an online co-op! Anyway I must have been thinking about the adventure mode co-op.

*shrug* Personally I liked Coin a little better then just straight Smash simply because it was just as hectic but someone wasn't always in your face.  Though this is the best update in a while.  I'm glad there is a whole different event set for co-op.  I'm with GP though I would like it be online co-op.  Simply because my wife wouldn't be very interested in playing with me. (Unless there was a co-star mode like Mario Galaxy but I can't see that working.)

Well, the adventure mode co-op is designed so the second player can just tag along and help out, so it's not that dissimilar...

Lets hope now that they'll also have co-op in Classic Mode and Multi Man Melee.  Playing Endless Melee with a friend helping out should make for some good times.

This should be great for me. The co-op events will be better than trying to get this girl to straight play against me. I'll probably beat the adventure mode first thing when I get the game, anyway.

That's pretty impressive, though it looks more like a trophy than an item. Plus, it looks like Diddy and DK are the characters in that challenge, so it could be a banana.

Why would there be a trophy as the catch for an event?  And it's most definitely a lightning bolt... =)

Shrink and subsequently pummel all go-karts on the stage (where the lightning that normally affects other characters also shrinks carts on this stage)

Do that with your partner in crime as quick as possible.

Sounds like a fabulous event to me...

I don't get the [new metriod] stage... and this is the first not to offer a high level view of what it looks like....

Oh wait, I get it now...

Think Brinstar Depths, except this time we have the queen parasite in the background and the stage has a top and bottom which invert during the match.  (So the platforms towards the ceiling become the new floor)  During the transition your left with a point when there is no ground

That stages looks pretty neat, but the only thing going for it is the rotating. The music was OK though.

Well, also there are the blackouts and the possibility that the parasite queen may actually attack.
