Well Haku openly says he is a boy to Naruto in the woods when he finds Naruto unconscious.

Naruto is shocked and initial thinks to himself "but he is cuter than Sakura-san!".

I thought you were confused about how we understand any of the girl boy stuff, was just stating it wasn't hard in the Naruto universe since Haku points out that he is well a he.

Not so much the girl-is-a-boy thing, but the plots in general. Just because they seem really, y'know, abstract.

Ah . . . well Naruto isn't really abstract. It's quite straight forward actually though it does have a lot of great plot twists and such.

It's long though so it's easy to get lost in it if you don't start from the beginning.
