Saw the movie. I'm not the best authority, as I feel many new episodes of The Simpsons still have funny in them, but I have to say, the movie was pretty darn good.

I used to be a fairly hardcore fan of The Simpsons, and count everything through Season 12 as treasured comedy. Since then, there's no doubt that the show's been on a steady decline, and in the last few years, I've stopped watching new episodes altogether. I went into this movie hoping to re-kindle my love with the series, so what did I think?

Eh.

It's not a bad movie - don't get me wrong. I didn't hate it as Evan did (though I can definitely see where he's coming from, and agree on a few points). It was just a bit of a mixed bag for me. There were hints to the heart that made the show great in its earlier years, but there was also too much of the gag-heavy nonsense that's plagued it since. If I had to grade it, it'd be a 3/5. Worth seeing if you're a fan, because there's definitely enjoyment to be had, but I wouldn't expect anything magical.

I've never been a "hardcore" Simpsons fan, always just catching episodes here and there for the past however many years it's been on. Even watching the show in this fashion I've noticed the decline of the show. For me though that's been going on for awhile, in the earlier episodes they focused mainly on Homer, then they sort of switched to Bart, then they came back and did a lot more of both of them together. I liked the focus being mainly on Homer, which is why I loved the movie so much, in my mind that's what makes it a return to the original.

I thought the movie was hilarious, there were so many great one liners, the plot was strong, there was plenty of emotion, self-discovery, and a great resolution, what more do you want from a movie? Well everyone is entitled to their opinion, and mine is that this movie is awesome.

I can't wait to see it. Even if the Simpsons are not as clever or inventive as they used to be they are still loads of fun to watch. I saw some of the newer episodes and I thought they were great. Some of the jokes are a bit too out there but the whole thing has been really good.

Ok, I've decided that I'm going to see it later tonight so I can finally form my opinion. Of course because of my hate for what the show has become, I admit I'm going to have a huge bias when I see it. If it's good it's going to have to really impress me then.

I saw it today. I didn't like it. There were a few jokes that I found funny, but it was mostly the same repetitive style of humor that's been bringing down the series. To be fair though, I might've been over-analyzing the movie, and the audience I was in was annoying. There was this kid who just wouldn't shut the hell up. I hate that.

I thought the movie had less repetitive humour than family guy.

the second that show came back from cancelation i was so excited to watch the new episodes but stopped watching after that second sunday.

its random humour somehow became predictable to me and i can't enjoy the show anymore. I am worrying things will be the same with futurama when that comes back.

Then again with the simpsons being on as long as they have i often get the “been there done that” vibe from other said cartoons.

Am i getting to old for this shite?

I saw it tonight. I certainly laughed a lot, so much that my jaw hurt at one point. But so much of the humor was physical comedy or sight gags, it just seemed a bit low-brow. There was some subtle humor, but I think there were only about three of us in the theater who laughed at that.

By the way where did the pig go after the Simpsons went to Alaska?

One thing that annoyed me throughout the entire thing was why nobody even tried to dig a hole to get out, but I kept reminding myself that it's a cartoon.

Not to mention that this is the Simpsons cast we are talking about...

I just saw the movie and I greatly enjoyed it! I was a tad disappointed that it was mostly focused on jokes and not on story but compared to the recent Family Guy episodes they did a good job of mixing the story and humor. I liked the drama between Homer and his family, something that reminded me of the early episodes. It gave an emotional push to the story.

There was one thing that bugged me was that in the movie it shows that Homer and Marge had a big wedding celebration on tape. Simpsons fans know that Homer and Marge never had a big wedding. They got married at a cheap wedding chapel when they found out Marge was pregnant with Bart. They finally got a big wedding celebration in the episode where Homer files a divorce and gets married again.

It just bugs me when the writers forget about past events and write some new ones on top of them.

But overall the movie was really good. Could've been better but the humor is strong.

I really enjoyed it and I'm super critical when judging movies. It doesn't touch the best seasons (which I would say are 4-8), but it was still very good.

Crazy Cat Lady's 2 seconds of screen time made my life.
