That was far before Rare was sold.  About three or four years beforehand.

I'm watching the MGS4 trailer and honestly can't say I'm impressed. Some of the animations are horrible and the textures seem really washed out.

Thatguy is correct.

September 2002 was when Rare was acquired by Microsoft so that was indeed a good 3 years (at least) from the time the people who formed Free Radical left Rare.

Edit: @ GP, it looks really nice on a TV but the shadows in this game up close are HORRIBLE and completely pixilated. IGN is claiming it to be "he most amazing game that this great Earth will ever gift to us."

I highly doubt it'll be that good. lol

Personally I don't care much for the stupid cinematics instead of gameplay. Color me not that impressed by it, the graphics fail to impress me much either. Still tryin gto get the new vid of LittleBigPlanet.

Don't get me wrong I'm not going to run out and buy a PS3 because of it but on a TV screen it was visually very nice.

The LittleBigPlanet stuff was really nice too.

Well then that's a very valid point....

TV couldn't have changed the animations much though!

My personal ratings for the shows would be

MS=6.5 (Did what they needed to, show off their games for the coming winter and help establish more why they are the "hardcore" system of choice)

Nintendo=7.5 (Pretty uneventful to be honest, but at least we got a couple new promising games announced!)

Sony=8 (Better show than NIntendo from what I heard, but I still think they failed to differentiate themselves from Xbox 360, they need more than LBP)

TP is the best 3D Zelda....soooo =P (in my eyes)

Edit: And also @ GP the animations didn't look all too terrible to me, they had a very....Metal Gear feel to them that fit the series. Hard to explain but the animations look "familiar".

I am talking about the soldiers crouching and moving, their walking animations looked stiff.

Just got done watching the Killzone trailer and it beats MGS4 with an ugly stick, the animations look so natural and the visuals are stunning. Too bad all I see is lots of shooting, stuff blowing up, and people dieing. Not what I would call a unique experience.

Well seeing as how I dont have either and E3 didn't convince me to get either, I'll be sticking with the good old Wii titles which I am sure will do well.

To hell with MGS4 and Killzone 2!!! ~_^

Peter Moore and his comrades lack in stage presence.
Phil Harrison really knows his stage. Kaz...well it was Kaz, he had some stage presence. Tretton was a nervous, soulless zombie on stage, someone give him some vitamins.
Reggie, Miyamoto, and Bill Trinen are great stage performers. Iwata needs to work on his stage skills, maybe they should make a Stage Training game just for him, Tretton, Kaz, and Moore.

In truth, none of the conferences really exploded. Nintendo's was fun to watch, MS had non-stop trailers, and Sony got the best new game on display: Echocrome. But none of them actually, really, busted out anything totally mindblowing or shocking or gamechanging. All is as it ever was.

I didn't see any of them...even the Nintendo conference was audio-only for me.  Reggie sounded like he was reading from a teleprompter, I think it's a side-effect of not seeing his gestures.

Based on summaries, it seems like Sony had the most to show, but they really needed to win this one, in fact from what I've heard they could have done a lot better.  It seems like the days of using E3 for all the big announcements are gone.
That's my opinion, not yours.

I think TGS will be a more prominent place to display new stuff in the coming years, but thats just my opinion.

Actually that is a opinion that I think can be backed up. Now that E3 has been tapered down, the only big event left is TGS and even during the past it has been home to BIG announcements (Wiimote anyone?). So I can see announcements being saved for the show, and it being the new E3.
