Tekken 6 is location testing!

I may or may not have time to go check it out (it's in Shibuya, this weekend only) but one of my friends went and took some video (even though it was prohibited lol) and put it up on youtube. You can't see much other than it's widescreen and there are 40 characters on the select screen.

Also, Tekken5DR on PS3 is going online.

Ya I'm not really a Tekken fan. I liked the first 2 games in the arcade but after that I really didn't care for it any more. I tried out 5 on the PS2 and PSP but I still wasn't remotely interested in it.

I'll stick to Dead or Alive, King of Fighters, Smash Bros and Soul Caliber for all my 3D Fighting needs.

SC2 was the only 3d fighter I really liked. I prefer the speed and freestyleness of 2d fighters.

Hey, great contributions to the thread, retards. There's a forum area for retarded off-topic posts, you know, and it's not this one.

You know, me too, but Tekken 5 turned me around on the series. It seems like they sped up the pace and smoothed things out, you know? I could totally dig being hesitant to play after Tekken 4, but it's really good now.

Someone is being a grumpy head, seriously I thought the Tekken fad has pretty much died out since they have beaten the series into the ground over the years (actually I think the fighter genre in general is petering out in appeal).

I am being a grumpy head! But people still play it and I'd like to try to find any of them that may be on this forum so we can have a Tekken circlejerk. Plus, I don't know of any other sites that have contraband video of the Tekken 6 character select. The selection is huge right off the bat and it looks like they're showing all but like... three characters already.

Tekken is the only traditional fighter I find even remotely playable. I even entertained the thought, for a second, of buying a PS3 to play this, but then I realised how stupid I was being.

Well I tell you what when I get a PS3 (it is only a matter of time) I'll try out Tekken 6. Personally I gave up on the series after one of the earlier PS2 games, but it sounds like it has improved (Personally I loved Tekken 2 and 3). Soul Calibur is my personal favorite fighting series (DOA has to be my least), so I guess I'll give Tekken 6 a fair chance when I um, get the chance.

Actually Tekken 5 is the only one I played in any serious capacity. I feel like "okay, which button was the one the game accepts now?" all the time, never mind I have no feeling for when those buttons must be pressed to register. Feels like I'm learning sequences of arbitrary symbols rather than finding a way to make a good combo. I often fall back into spamming some attack that works because I can't remember which attack is triggered how (hell, I often can't even figure out how I trigger that one attack and just hammer all buttons until it appears) and how the layout changes every time you press a button.

Yeah, the number of pre-designed combos is a bit prohibitive in Tekken, I tried 5 with a friend recently.  It's not a bad game, but I guess I'm not "hardcore" enough for fighting games anymore, because I don't have the time/patience to remember "X O Triangle Square Square X".

Still, I could totally get into the series if I had the time...
That's my opinion, not yours.

SC > SC2

but I do prefer 2D over 3D fighting games... and Tekken 3 is the best one of the series...

I thought the PSP Tekken was actually the best; I played the older ones on the PS2 Tekken 5 release, and I thought they all moved too slow for my liking (strangely, so did Tekken 5, but maybe I didn't give it enough time). I still think the series is better than Virtua Fighter (too floaty, and I'm still bitter that my VF4: Evo doesn't have rumble!), though about equal with Dead or Alive and outclassed by Soul Calibur (III's the tops for me, though I loves me some II Link every once in awhile). And I don't think 2D fighters are comparable; totally different creature.

Nevertheless, I'm not getting this for awhile as there's no way I'm blowing my money on a PS3 until it's at a garage sale for $200.
