To Bill: i'm not sure what you're talking about but sorry it didn't help. We can always dream about it though..

about the pokemon thing: thats a very very good point but don't you think if nintendo did want to release a pokemon mmorpg they'd find a way to sell you their other pokemon games too? for example new content only unlocked thru a new game. They love making money so i'm sure they'd pull some sort of “stunt” like that.

that still doesn't help out the third party situation so its still a bad idea. Oh well, i don't play pokemon any more

Good point on the whole pokemon thing being too good for it's own good lol. Poor third parties . . .

I would settle for a leader board system and some sort of official online tournament . . . maybe, if that's not too much to ask for.

Sounds like it could be done on the DS if all you need is a ladder system and leaderboard!

Sorry I'm a little late.

Nintendo

The "new" storage for the Wii will be the SD card they will increase the maximum size that can be used. (Because I know it can read a 4GB just can't write to it which means it has the ability to do so but not the software to do so.) An upgrade will be available "by the end of the year" (2008) which will enable games to run off it and use it as storage memory.

New IPs will be announce by Nintendo which will encite confusion but will bought and played non-the-less.

Monolith will show off an RPG title we won't get for a year or so. But it will look good and have a strange story line.

We will start to see a bigger percentage of shovel ware and me-too titles from 3rd parties with one or two potenial gems.

What ever happens Nintendo fans will complain that ________ wasn't announced or that didn't happen.

Sony

Will claim that the PS3 is beating the competition in some exstenalist way, will downplay problems, admitt to making mistakes while making claims only mircles could fulfill.

Some titles, will be announced that will be proclaimed PS3 exclusive, and announced for the 360 in two months.

A price cut will announced as in the works but no other information will be handed out.

Sony taking another page from the almost disgarded Nintendo handbook will say that the 1st party will carry the day while announcing Jak and Dexter XXXIII, Legend of Lugaia: Didn't we play this same title twice before and Wild Arms LV: Where in the world is the continuity. And more on the Rachet and Clank.

Square will announce their undying love for the PS3 once again will announcing 15 titles for the DS, 360, Wii and PS2.

The PSP will take a biger presence in the show.

New PS2 titles will be announced.

An expensive and convoluded pricing sceme will be announced for the PS network.

Microsoft

Will claim victory in some fasion. Down play its need for Red Ring of Death insurance.

Halo 3 will slip to a November release date fans will riot.

Microsoft will take pot shots at both Nintendo and Sony this year.
Stupidity is lost on my. Then again I'm almost always lost.

How about MS revealing a motion-sensitive accessory for the XBox 360?

I mean I don't see why not! Remember video game fans, Bill Gates doesn't even think the Wii does what he feels is the future .  . . (note: it pretty much does)

Quote

Bill: So 3D is a way of organizing things, particularly as we’re getting much more media information on the computer, a lot more choices, a lot more navigation than we’ve ever had before. And we can take that into this communications world where the PC is playing a much more central role, kind of taking over what was the PBX, sort of one of the last mainframes in the business environment. That will be a big change that will come to it. And as we get natural input, that will cause a change. … Software is doing vision and so, you know, imagine a game machine where you’re just going to pick up the bat and swing it or the tennis racket and swing it.

Walt: We have one of those.

Kara: Yeah. Wii.

Bill: No, that’s not it. You can’t pick up your tennis racket. And swing it. You can’t sit there with your friends and do those natural things. That’s a 3D positional device. This is video recognition.

Still one of my favorite points in any interview, silly Bill!

I've heard rumours of a returning Nintendo IP.  I figure it will be Kid Icarus or PilotWings, and that is going to be the only new product to appease the gamer crowd.  Everything else will be the latest versions of the stuff Nintendo already announced.  Hopefully we'll see new details on Wii Music and Wii Health Pack.

Third parties will show a handful of new games, but still not enough (and not hardcore enough) to satisfy the hardcore contingent.  Nintendo's overall showing will be considered underwhelming because the huge sales of their hardware will relieve the company of the need to unveil games months (or years) in advance to keep people happy.

Sony will have a good show after last year's humiliation, but will people actually care about it's first party lineup?  No new motion controls.

Microsoft will have the most real games to show off.  Maybe it will have some crazy Wii-like accessory like Kairon suggested, who knows?
That's my opinion, not yours.

Bill Gates will announce the next XBox, which will have the astounding ability to route thousands of international phone calls simultaneously while organizing navigational information in a whole three dimensions. Oh, and it'll have built-in waggle. Take that, Apple!

It just doesn't make much sense . . . I don't see a need for it. In those games its (usually) only the main character who saves the day. Mario or Link. While the worlds themselves are fanciful and interesting they don't make for a good MMO setting.

What would people play? A Hyrule Guard? Toad?

Don't know what made me think of this but i'd love to see an Earthworm Jim game on wii, a 3rd person shooter with plenty of crazy mini games thrown into the mix and plenty of goofy waggle ideas i.e. snot whipping with the nunchuk or cow wrangling/lassoing (sp?) with the wiimote

Well, in the case of the Mario universe a person could choose their class of any of the things that have appeared in Mario games. For example, a person could be a Goomba, or a Koopa, or a Toad, or a Yoshi, or god knows what.... Or it could use the Mii system for your character.

But maybe it could be like Super Smash Bros. in that all the Nintendo franchises would come together in some sort of ficttional realm where the MMORPG would take place. It couldn't be taken too seriously, but it would probably be a great deal of fun.

A YOSHI MORPG.

You could play different classes (colors) of yoshis, and there'd be tons of accessorizing you could do (bows, Boshi's signature shades, rad saddles to wear, boots... etc.). And since everyone would be Yoshi's, there'd be the most awesome cute animations and sounds to the game, and you could all go out on group quests (akin to PSO) to find missing yoshies, harvest materials, investigate mysteries, make deliveries... and the like!
