Frankly I love my DSPhat and kept it for much that reason.  It to has a host of issues of its own.  (Like the bar that digs into with long gaming sessions.)

Okay the PSP I can see but the DS?  Why would they release a THIRD revision of it?

It is precedented for Nintendo Handhelds to have 3 or more revisions. Look at the GBA for example.

Why would they do it? To counter Sony's PSP revision and to make buckets of cash from the increase in DS sales. The last DS revision turned things around for them in NA. Just think what a 2nd revision could accomplish for them.

"Your plan to tell people to buy the original DS doesn't work very well when they aren't sold new and, in fact, I don't see a lot of them used."

So Nintendo are evil by not making the old DS anymore and by introducing a problem with the Lite that the old DS didn't have.  Okay I'll give everyone a little bit of slack (but not those who sold their old DS) but man Nintendo is just manipulating everyone with their portables (assuming they do introduce a third DS).  Makes one feel kind of guilty for being their fan.  I guess the new DS will be covered in shart spines and if you have a problem with that in two years you can buy the DS Smooth and everything will be okay, unless of course you have a problem with holding a DS the burns your hands.  Then you'll have to buy a DS Cool.

My predictions from Nintendo:

1.) A Zelda RPG game and/or another Mario RPG game, perhaps with the partnership of Square-Enix.

2.) A brand new 1st or 2nd party M-rated franchise to plug that hole and shut up Nintendo bashers who claim Nintendo only makes games for children.

3.) A 3rd person 3D or 2D Metroid game more in line with the older ones.

4.) An online MMORPG set in the Zelda or Mario universe. For as popular as these types of games are, Nintendo would be foolish not to make one.

5.) A DS revision that includes an SD card slot and allows the ability to play multimedia. Also includes built in Opera browser, Rumble capability, Tilt Pak, and online version of Pictochat and Mario Paint. In fact, you can save your Mario Paint works to the SD card to be printed or uploaded on your PC.

6.) A lightgun peripheral is announced for the Wii that looks and feels just like a real gun, but hooks up to the Nunchuck and works well for FPS type games. Plus this will come bundled with a game that makes good use of it, and this game will have a T or M rating to shatter Nintendo's kid only stereotype.

7.) We will see an Animal Crossing MMORPG for the Wii and perhaps a new version for the DS which will interoperate with the Wii version.

8.) Nintendo will announce a partnership with Youtube and/or Myspace for an exclusive Wii channel for their sites with special features.

9.) Nintendo will start offering music and video downloads on a Wii channel, which can be downloaded and accessed from both the Wii and the DS revision I proposed above.

10.) We will see a keyboard peripheral designed for the Wii and perhaps a mini-keyboard that plugs into the GBA slot of the DS for a more PDA feel.

11.) Reggie will be arrested for literally kicking someone's ass at the conference

I really doubt Nintendo intentionally created problems with the DS phat so they could profit by selling a better version later. Why would they have intentionally made that model so large and ugly considering the threat that was posed by the impending PSP? The PSP outsold the original model DS until the Lite came out. I don't think Nintendo wanted to make the Phat suck so much...

Most likely they had to rush it out so it would be ready for holiday '04 to give them a headstart over the PSP. Otherwise they'd surely have taken more time and what they released would have come out much later, but more refined.

Of course, I still only have the Phat model, and it works fine by me, but I do admit it is large and ugly. I see no need to upgrade to the Lite. But if Nintendo released another revision with enhanced capabilities I'd certainly go for it.

As I said before I much prefer my Phat over a Lite.  Call me old fashion.  Though the Phat is a revision from what they were originally showing and were going to release if there was no PSP.  So does that mean we are actually on 4 already?

Then maybe those people should, I don't know, buy the OLD DS. Now that isn't any indication that Nintendo won't release the "DS BIG" with this sort of dumb logic in place and it isn't any indication that people won't buy it. It still bugs me that this sort of marketing works ever.

And what about older people who have trouble seeing? You can't tell them to buy new eyes. I think a larger screen model is actually a good strategy when you think about reaching new gamers, especially if a certain audience is telling you they want what you're selling. I don't know if this new model would replace Lite, but I don't think it needs to. The new model would cater to a specific audience, if anyone else wants to join in, that's really on them.

I'm perfectly happy with Lite. However, upcoming games like Ring of Fates and Contra IV really make me want another DS so I can play co-op with my brother.

I predict no new Wii game announcements. No way we'll hear anything new when Nintendo want our money focused on the big titles that aren't even out yet. What i'm really hoping for is New SMB 2 for DS. I'll be happy with the conference if its just Reggie, Miyamoto and Iwata playing games and just being funny.

my logic for my predictions is
Nintendo will not do exactly what everyone predicts
they will do something different, yet it will be a progressive of something they were already doing.

1. Nintendo will show off a new Zelda game, but it won't be your regular Zelda game, it will be an online game, but not how you expect. It wont be an mmo. instead it will be a new four swords game, but the world wont be open, youll play the game with up to four players from your friends list. no more than that. it will be online but not massivey multiplayer, and it might not even be 3d.

2. a new donkey kong game will be announced that will look pretty good, it will take full advantage of the wii mote, and donkey kong will have a vine lasso. The game will involve lasssoing and swinging from tree to tree.

3 ubisoft may or not make a sequal to red steel, it is posible the game will be similar, but only a "spiritual successor" because while Red Steel sold fairly well, it was poorly reviewed.

4 Metroid will be a hit of the show, one wonders however if it is not online, doe that mean there is no off line multiplayer as well.

5. possibly due to demand a kid ikarus sequal will be announced, and a new f-zero(however when this f-zero does come out it will be harshley reviewed for not being much different the f-zero gx)

6. Miyamoto will show off some features to some weird successor to stage debut, but this will infact never come out.

7. Demand for a new Pikmin are high, but for several years Nintendo will just put it to sleep until another 2 generations.
NWR has permission to use any tentative mockup/artwork I post

I don't think there'll be that many big announcements. Remember, E3 is practically dead. We'll see a few press releases from the surrounding time put into that show instead but no special versions of games anymore (I heard devs hate having to make an E3 demo anyway).

Well, the interviews with Retro Studios all say something along the lines of "there is no multiplayer so we could focus all our resources on making the single player the best it could be".

So, probably not. Metroid doesn't need multiplayer to be good anyway.

Maybe we'll see a music game similar to Guitar Hero, but it will feature something other than a guitar... like maybe a keyboard or drums or something.

Perhaps a new Zelda game that has an Ocarina peripheral will be announced?

They have that already for the Xbox 360 (or it will be coming out I should say). It's called Rock Band and you have one person play the Guitar, another players the drums, one player sings into a mic and I forgot what the 4th was might be another guitar.

Pokemon Pearl / Diamond is a MMORPG.

Also I think Wii would be better suited to an actual music game like Electroplankton over a game about wanking with a piece of plastic.

Sorry Mario but Pokemon Diamond / Pearl is not an MMORPG. It has online multiplayer but is not a MMO.

If it were, the whole world would be inhabited by other players, or you would be able to log into a portion of the game that allowed you to hop on Wifi and walk around and interact with many other players (more than just 1 other person or whomever you may meet up with in a union room) than it would be considered an MMO.

However, it just isn't.
